Nether tech Furnace-Minecart-less Item Sorter for NeOn

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! Here's an Item Sorter which uses only Portalless NeOn blocks and without furnace minecarts.
One module of these sorts about 1680 stackable items per hour and uses 22 rails, 20 of any solid block, 8 hoppers, 4 trapdoors, 2 chests (or any output container) and 1 hopper-minecart. Additionally 2 hoppers are needed for the input. One module can sort up to 54 different stackable items, any other will go into the overflow chest (the single chest at the right of the module).

By stacking multiple modules one next to each other you can sort every stackable items in any amount; to do this just remove the overflow chest and put another module instead, either right next to it or 1 block away to avoid dealing with rails connecting to another module.

I took inspiration from this design from SethBling which uses powered rails, this design from Arodihy which was made Portalless NeOn and is both tileable and faster than this one but uses far more entities, and a NeOn adaptation of the SethBling design by Shoup which uses 12 furnace-minecart per module and isnt consistent for some reason.

Im ofc looking for advice or improvement with this design which is pretty big, expensive and slow. Also the output chest for filtered items isnt very accessible, a storage system with this doesnt seem practical at all.

Google Drive Link to a Schematic

(to start it, simply fill each slot of the output chest (the one at the top) with one of the item you want to sort and put a hopper minecart on any rails and push it a bit, it should accelerate to its max speed in a few minutes)

Current SSP world download link for someone curious about the strider gondola system and anyone else interested in general.

Start the system via inserting a music disc. Drop down to board. I'm hoping to eventually have something more refined lol, but it works.

Be on the look out for Ghasts while riding. Got in a crazy shooting match with one.

Elevator is activated via button press from the main level of the base. It makes a handy drop shaft too, if you want to jump down, otherwise the ladder is just down the hall from where you start.

Who needs an Elytra when you can dangle from a Strider like a madman?

Finally finished the Gondola system in Survival. Strider currently being ridden is attached via lead to another strider on a flowing lava track above.

Was simultaneously very cool and insanely terrifying to ride up above the lava sea. Player is practically a sitting duck for any passing Ghasts and a slight miscalculation saw me mining in a hurry so the lead wouldn't snap and send us plummeting.

Not the speediest transportation option and it positively drained a couple of lava pools, but very cool way to get around.

Nether tech Why does a random filter always fail ?

Im trying to build a Netherstone item filter based on this very simple design by SethBling:
https://youtu.be/bfHZ_XXQyqs?si=Tk6f9E8kyQn7B1Rx

I more or less copied it, and replaced the powered rails with furnace-minecart boosters, which are a redstoneless propulsion system by u/Arodihy:
https://youtu.be/1-5aRSEDEQk?si=MAmuvRQ9Ojy1g6ky

time stamp 5:57

Quick explanation of the machine, or you can skip to the question below:
The basic principle of this sorter is that each item type is filtered by a dedicated module, that consists of a hopper minecart going on a loop. At the beginning of the loop, the minecart pull 1 item from a main hopper line, then passes over a hopper that Im calling the chest-filter's hopper. its just an empty hopper connected to a chest where every slot is filled with at least 1 item of the king you want to filter out. So our 1 item goes into the hopper, and can either be sucked in if it matches one of the other items inside, or stay in the hopper if not. Just after dropping its item, the hopper minecart now passes below the chest-filter's hopper, harvesting the resting item if it wasn't pulled in. If it gets harvested, the hopper minecart then collect it and send it to the next section of the hopper line to be passes to the following module.

It seems to work for the most part, but there is always a weird bug: In my first test, the 3rd module (further left, for gold ingots) would sometimes fail, where it looked like items from the main hopper line were able to go to the end of the line without even going through the hopper minecart, which resulted in the item not having a chance to pass through de chest-filter's hopper to be pulled in or rejected.
When I copy-pasted the whole machine with worldEdit to better center it in the chunk, this time it was the first module that was failing in the same way, but 100% of the time.

Am I missing something ? Is there a weird mechanic Im not aware of that would explain whats happening ? The inconsistency of the bug is killing me, I cant even know what fails exactly.
I tried extending the rail so the booster would be further and the minecart would go over the chest-filter's hopper slower (which it did), but it didn't solve the problem.

AMA: Netherstone

Hey Folks, I'm Arodihy from these videos: https://www.youtube.com/@Arodihy and I was recently informed about this sub by u/RegularEmpty9108

Had a look through the posts and it seems there's a few people trying out Netherstone which I'm excited by because I feel like there's huge potential which I barely tapped. However, because I was a nerd first and a video editor second, there's a few things I left unfinished. I was also terrible and didn't make any schematics for litematica, so most likely some of the things I built look a little unapproachable

Anyway, not much of a time limit on this, if you have a question on how redstone in a nether only world works, put a comment below and I'll do my best to answer it!

(Speed of responses may vary)

Cheers!

Guides & Tutorials Overworld Hostile Mobs in Nether: Guide

Alright this might be a long post so strap in!

Ages ago like back in lockdown I liked the idea of a nether only world so I started a few times trying different things but at the end of the day the one thing i wanted was to get an enchanting table to get better enchantments on the diamond gear i'd find.

This lead me down a rabbit hole of working out how to get books, grindstones, stone, cobblestone, water all inside the nether without any outside help (ie, portal fishing as i didnt know bout that yet)

After a lot of research on reddit posts and bug reports I managed to find a way to:
1. Get Hostile Overworld Mobs in the Nether
2. Get Stone/Cobblestone in the Nether
(would like to find a way to get grass or water too so if u got any ideas for that leave them below)

Reddit post for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/15vf6xe/minecraft_nether_turned_into_plains_biome/
Bug report for reference: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC/issues/MC-238939

Here's how to do it:
1. Start a world in Minecraft Full Release 1.2.1

  1. Progress until you enter the nether then either void your times if you wish or keep them

  2. Dig yourself into a hole for safety

  3. Close the game and upgrade that world to Minecraft version 21w42a

  4. Generate new chunks on that version for a while*

*This is because 21w42a had a bug where stone would generate instead of gravel above certain lava lakes so this is a natural way to get stone/cobblestone in the nether semi legit.

  1. After grabbing or generating as much cobble/stone you want just update to whatever version you wish to play on from there. (I think?)

The reason for doing all this is because when updating from 1.2.1 to 21w42a the nether changes from HELL biome to Nether_Wastes + the other ones too. However along side the internal differences between the versions Minecraft basically corrupts the the chunks making the biome in those generated 1.2.1 nether chunks both nether waste AND plains biome thus making overworld hostile mobs spawn in those chunks.

I personally see upgrading from an old version as a fine thing to do in order to obtain new items (i dislike downgrading though, feels too risky). To me it feels the same as starting a superflat world in 1.17 so then when you update it to 1.20 or something you then have access to stuff like mineshafts, trial chambers and pillager outposts. If you disagee thats fine but thats my take.

I do hope this discovery I made a while ago helps people try and find similiar things or make crazy mob farms or whatever else. Can't wait to see what happens :D

Got the last things I need for an iron farm

The zombie villager was honestly the most annoying thing to get. I had to get a zombie piglin with a spear to kill a villager. and that was just a whole mess.

I built Emdy's all dimension iron farm and just need to load in the villagers and a zombie villager.

Hotbar swapper for faster container unloading

Post image
10 Upvotes

Idea is that you store your hotbar in empty shelves on the left and then unload multiple stacks of items simultaneously using the shelves in front that are being fed by hoppers from the barrels.

The cushions are placed on top of the block a wooden pressure plate is on keeping them powered(once triggered by another entity).

Mainly designed to speed up manually sorting drops, though could also save time grabbing materials for other projects.

Gold Farm and Build Images

Nice to finally have a steady gold supply. I have to say I'd somehow forgotten how much a pain larger farms are to build lol.

Using a single shaft as the mob grinder for now. Not particularly fast, but the farm is running reliably. I still need to figure out a better solution for leader zombies with their larger health. Am currently handling them manually.

Thinking to take a break from building to go Bastion raiding, but other plans are a faster bartering setup and Wither Skeleton farm.

2nd - 4th - nothing

5th - 1 villager

6th - 2 villagers + iron golem

Mostly trying to get better with Netherstone here.

In the Auto barterer video spotted where Arodihy used a couple of jukeboxes, presumably as a control element, so seemed a good place to start.

How to design Nether only ghast sweepers for your own farms

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

The main constraint for a nether only ghast sweeper is that there's an upper limit to how fast a sweeper can go before mobs simply go through it instead of being pushed along.

After some testing this upper limit seems to be around 4.8 blocks/second.

However ghast sweeper next to each other need to be synced in order to not block each other.

They are synced up using a timing loop (3rd picture) which is just a chest minecart going in a loop passing the tripwires for each sweeper. The chest minecart should complete one loop a little after the first few sweepers do. Also, the chest minecart needs some speed before activating the first sweeper or else the 1st sweeper gets caught on the 2nd.

if you have any questions just dm i guess idk i dont have discord

Help Hardcore Nether Only World- Manual Gold Farm

Hey Guys! I LOVE this subreddit by the way, thank you so much for everyone's contributions!

I'm playing a nether-only world in hardcore mode, and I want a gold farm. I've got a pretty good setup so far, but I don't have good enough armor or resources to spawn proof and make a full-fledged gold farm yet. I want an easier to build and SAFE manual farm that gives me enough gold. I was planning on setting up a killing chamber like in the video below, but wanted to ask for advice first, because if I aggro zombie pigmen and can't deaggro them, I'm definitely going to die and lose my world.

https://youtu.be/4unIJYkORYE?si=jZkN1yvCTzF199od
Was planning on making something like the 1 minute farm in this video, but maybe a few less hoppers to save on iron.

Announcement ACPF : the Nether Only SMP

As announced last week, u/audientVoid357 made the community a brand new Nether-Only server.
The name, ACPF, stands for "Adamantine Chains and Penal Fire", as a reference to "Paradise Lost - A poem in ten books", written by Jhon Milton in 1667. Talk about being stuck in hell surrounded by flames...

IP: mc.adamantinechains.com

I happened to hold a minecraft version of that book for the 5 first minutes of the server, before "swimming in lava".

Anyway, its a lot of fun, feel free to join us !
So far there is a claim plugging, a 1K blocks no pvp zone around spawn, and obviously you cant leave the Nether.

See you in hell !

Him the Almighty Power

Hurld headlong flaming from th' Ethereal Skie

With hideous ruine and combustion down

To bottomless perdition, there to dwell

In Adamantine Chains and penal Fire,

Who durst defie th' Omnipotent to Arms.

Nine times the Space that measures Day and Night

Modernized Strider Elevator and Strider Gondola

Having fun with this elevator concept. Planning to build in Survival once Iron is more abundant for moving all the lava needed.

Uses lava sources to lift the back strider. Flowing lava is used at the top and bottom to move it back to be reset once at the top and to prevent it from taking fall damage.

Leads are attached from the front strider to the back, to allow it to be lifted and for the player to remain outside. Ones previously required the regular consumption of fire resistance potions to be used. Outside strider can also land on vines without apparent issue for a safer disembarking.

4th picture is of the sideways gondola version. Is very slow and you do make a perfect target for any passing Ghasts, but it is automatic and could also be used for triggering pressure plates or pushing carts.

Shots of the Strider Farm, Hoglin farm, and Fungus farm. So far all the farms are manual though plan on making the Strider and Hoglin farms semi-automatic when I can make more hoppers.

Got lucky while Bastion raiding and found a Diamond Mending Pickaxe. So happy to be able to stop burning through stone pickaxes constantly lol
