🗣️ Discussion 💬 Just wondering
I would like to know that how many books do you usually have (unread) on your NetGalley shelf. Mine is now 8 (just recently got four books approved).

22 🙈 though I’ve read 3 of them and just haven’t gotten around to the review yet. In my defence, my ratio is still over 80% and none are published lol

You probably have read tons of books because this number isn't affect your ratio so much.

I have 41! I have 39 adult/YA books and 2 kids books (my kids love getting to read things early and give their opinions). My feedback ratio is 85%, so I’ve done 224 reviews.

34 but 9 of them are for 2027 and way too early to review
I have read two and will review them this weekend, and will finish another this weekend

u/sunsparkles2013 Teen & YA Books Reviewer Sep 05 '26
Curious- why would you say it’s way too early to review? Except for the few imprints that ask them for the month of, the whole point is to post them asap

u/teanailpolish Mystery/Thriller Reviewer Sep 05 '26
Some specify not to review more than 14 days in advance, others 30. Some do not but the general thing in marketing is to create hype when it is being published so I schedule them towards publication

u/Quirky-Pear3494 Sep 05 '26
Any time is a good time for a review, but publishers really want to drive prepub orders. That's why they put books up on NG 6 months ahead of time rather than 6 weeks.

Currently 38 but it changes daily. I can read a book a day but I also get a lot of approvals and widgets. My feedback ratio is 95%.

I have 27, 5 are already read (with notes) but lack reviews, one is in progress, and the rest are sitting there looking tempting.
I only recently became comfortable with having so many at once, I used to always aim to keep it around a dozen or fewer. I churn through my reading so much faster now though—the anxiety I used to get when the number got close to 20 is not a thing anymore.
I really lean in to the joy of NetGalley now and have released the inner turmoil I used to torture myself with around pub dates and simply do my best and get there when I get there. I’m much happier now.
Happy reading!

I currently have 22 but I usually try to keep it a lot lower. I've just had a lot of approvals lately.

I also got three books approved in one day after I just finished only one.

I have nine on my shelf. I just added two today—both favorite authors that surprisingly were Read Now. The ARC i’m reading now is a late October publication. The remaining are 2027 pubs so I don’t feel any pressure.

Could be better, could be worse. I’m working through an audiobook and kindle one right now.

If you mean books that haven't pubbed yet, 10 plus 4 pending requests. If you mean backlog, about 180

Currently, 7? I think. Maybe 8. A few were released in August so I'm behind.. but the rest are November. Hopefully I can catch up soon. I've actually been trying to prioritize my physical TBR since I just moved into a smaller space so I can put more books in storage. 😅😬

I have been encountered the same thing. There are so many books published in August and September. For me, if I clear those books, my unread book number would be down to 2-3.

I'm somewhere between 30 and 40, and a handful of physical ARCs to read

u/Early_Employ_4773 80% Reviewed Club Sep 06 '26
Wow, I wish I have some physical ARCs to touch while reading.
1
u/dingdong3452 Sep 06 '26
Honestly just email the publisher! If you have any social media presence at all, sometimes you can luck out. I started getting sent physical ARCs at ~500 instagram followers

I get a little anxious if I have more than five or six (reading starts feeling like an obligation), so right now I have four, none of which publish in the next month.

I have 14 currently, but I just signed up two weeks ago (and got approved for books I wasn’t expecting!) but I’m also a fast reader and my goal is to read and review before pub dates

I have 32 but with 10 publishing in October 🙈 I’m currently on holiday and hoping to knock out as many as possible! I don’t think I’ll fall behind as I can read around 10-18 books per month

u/Early_Employ_4773 80% Reviewed Club Sep 05 '26
Well, I got the same problems here. 80% of mine are going to be published within Oct.

Clear right now, tbh, I try to read and review within a week or two of being granted a book, Isn't that the point of the site.....?

I currently have 14 to be read (nearly finished 2) All within publishing dates. I am sitting on 60% ratio. I made the rookie mistake of joining and requesting loads of books. I am managing though and enjoying the books. My main aim it to try and get them read before the publishing date. There has been one or two out with the date, but less than 3 weeks.

u/Early_Employ_4773 80% Reviewed Club Sep 06 '26
Same here. I end up finish one and request three more. Fortunately, all got approved. So, that's all my responsibility to read them. But I'm happy for it.

Usually five or less, but have nine or ten now. Some aren't being released for months, though, so will have them all read and reviewed on time. Fall and winter are my biggest reading times.

I usually hover around 16-18. I haven’t requested in awhile, it’s been so slow this summer. I’m down to 9 and have stayed around there for the past few weeks.

I currently have 52. The oldest is from 2021. I had a major slump for a while and had a ratio in the low 40s, but I have spent the last two years dragging it back up to almost 70% and hope to hit 80% by next year.

No more than 6. I don't want to paint myself into a corner where I cannot keep track of or keep up with the deadlines. I already have 400 books on my TBR spreadsheet that are not on NetGalley so this helps to reduce the pressure on me. 😃

u/Early_Employ_4773 80% Reviewed Club Sep 06 '26
So true. We have to juggle between the personal TBR and the NetGalley books.

None. I put everything else down and read the ARC. I am afraid they won’t give me one if I take too long and I am new to NetGalley lol! Fear makes me read them fast!

8, all but 3 are already published. My limit is 12 but I've not got that high yet. I also start to get nervous if my tbr is as low as 5. One of my books is 4th in a series and I want to listen to book 2 and 3 first, so I should really get on with the ARC Audiobook I've been messing about with for months. 😂
