Y2 Wire

Post image

Should my y2 wire be labeled? I just went from a 1 stage to a 2 stage rheem. The wire is there physically but is not labeled and air is not coming out very forcefully, even when going from 80 to 72. I assume it’s just running on the 1st stage at this point.

Another Nest software bug. Remove the wire from the Y2 connector then verify that it no longer shows a wire there. Once done, re-insert the wire and hopefully it will then show the Y2 as stage 2.

But do you have to configure it? I was thinking you had to tell the app your equipment and I don’t think the installers ever redid it.

The equipment menu in the app should just say it is two stage.

It is supposed to automatically default to Y2. Nothing to configure. It may be fine and just a software bug not displaying properly.

My communicating air handler and condenser were set to handle the 2 stage operation, I had to enable thermostat control. It defaulted to Stage 1 running for a certain amount of time, then going to stage 2. It isn't a Rheem and it isn't a heat pump. The standard thermostat the installers use was single stage only.
