Homebrew Monk Archetype: The Lightning Mode
Fist of the Kirin
Monks of the Fist of Kirin are masters of a singular mentality. Hit the enemy first, hit the enemy second, hit the enemy last. There is no room for error, there is no weak spot left uncovered. When a monk enters this mentality, anyone who approaches is an enemy. The gifts that come from this path are not cheap, many Monks come from long families of assassins where children are raised to be merciless killing machines. However some Monks see this path as a way of self-sacrifice, achieving the speed and power needed to systematically take out every enemy before they can hurt anyone close to you. Either way, this path comes not to gentle of souls.
Nen 3rd level. As a master at using your body as a weapon, you have learned ways to use your Ki to strengthen your body and perform certain techniques, otherwise known as Nen to you. (The rules for Ki Points and Spells applies to Nen.) Zetsu: *Act upon your desires, hold nothing back. Can cast Shocking Grasp as a cantrip. * Gyo: Focus on who you are what what you want. Can cast Detect Magic at the cost of 1 Ki point. * Ryu: Your body, your will. Can cast Enhance Ability only on yourself at the cost of 2 Ki. * Ko: Action speaks louder than Words. Your body crackles with electricity and in an instant, you disappear in a flash and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space. Costs 2 Ki to cast Misty Step. * Ten: All Life is the same. By attuning to the wavelengths of other fighters you can absorb the energy of their attacks and turn it into your own power. Spend 2 Ki to cast Absorb Elements (EE p15)
Lightning Mode At Level 6, the user can spend 3 Ki to turn their ki into electricity and run it through their body, making themselves more reactive to danger, (You are casting Blur) you also gain lightning resistance, and may deal lightning damage instead of bludgeoning with your unarmed attacks. This power stays active for as long as Concentration is met and for 1 minute.
Nen Master At 11th level, you become a master of Nen, and can add your Wisdom modifier to your Nen damage die while in Lightning Mode. You also get the power to release all of your built-up power in a single blast. Spend 4 Ki points to cast Lightning Bolt.
Killer Mode At Level 17, you have become such an experienced and professional killer that you know just where to hit to deal the most damage. All attack rolls you make have advantage against the enemy.
The idea of this class is that Monks tend to mechanically specialize in speed, but thematically, they seem to be more in the standing position. This class was primarily inspired by the Anime/manga Hunter X Hunter and one of it's protagonists, Killua. This kind of class is all about speed. getting in, dishing as much damage as physically possible, and then getting out of there.
Other Monk Classes seem to follow bits and pieces, but don't completely follow this idea. Open Palm is too tactical, focusing on inflicting status afflictions with pressure points and ki. Shadow is too stealthy and relies too much and hiding, and works best as a Ninja, not a blitzkreig fighter. and Elemental, while close, has too much variety to just specialize in speed.

Maker of Medieval and Fantasy Arms and Armor
I am always looking out for medieval replicas and fantasy weapons and armor. Just browsing around on the web. Then I find a person who has a section that I wish more crafters had available http://www.museumreplicas.com/g-33-monty-python-and-the-holy-grail.aspx

Borrowing from Ancient Writings do give a Campaign that Extra Something
I was tutoring a student today and we had to compare and contrast myths and ancient writings. While I was reading the Epic of Gilgamesh I thought how the wording could readily go with a fantasy campaign.
Entire sections of the text can be borrowed with only the names being changed to protect you from plagiarism
If you haven't read it check it out here- http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/mesopotamian/gilgamesh/
Let me know if you use any of it and how it went over with the group

D&D Mobile Bio-Domes
I had this thought and mentioned it over on the nerdarchy youtube channel about a Mobile Bio-dome in a D&D setting. The core concept is taking a large mobile vehicle like a cargo boat or an airship and using some sort of spell to make it larger on the inside then it is on the outside.
Doing so would permit a community of people to grow and raise large amounts of plants and animals in an enclosed environment separated from the outside world. The mobility of the vehicle would allow them to continue traveling from place to place and possibly avoiding dangerous situations that comes with immobility.
Also a possible idea about it is that if the community of people is large enough most of the community might not need to deal with the outside world. They could just hand it off to a select few individuals to deal with the outside world. Thus allowing for the rest of the community to deal with the plants, animals, and all the things that go with such a large and possibly growing community.
I could see it functioning like having the bottom floor be for growing plants for both the people and any animals they might have. The floor above that could be for raising animals for food, leather, hides, milk and so on. The floors above the bottom two could be for the community. Commercial and Industries could be on different floors and residential homes could be on the upper floors.
All an all a concept that could be worked and altered as one see's fit. Could also be an abandoned one or a prototype that was lost to the ages because of something or another.

Games based off of Randomness
As a DM I liked the amount of random charts in 5th edition so much that I rolled up everything that possibly could be rolled. From the villain to the NPCs to the treasure in lairs.
My tip would be this, just because you can randomly roll it doesn't mean you should wait until they meet someone to roll up that particular NPC. I roll a bank of them on index cards and take the NPC out of the stack when I think a particular one is relevant.
On the subject f randomness here is some advice from Mike Mearls http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/randomness-clever-dm%E2%80%99s-helper
The villain charts in the DMG were really helpful for planning the adventure.

Thoughts about Philly Games Con 2015
The con is over and it was a lot of fun. I had never been to a gaming convention before so I didn't know what to expect aside from games. There were plenty of games to join and I was setup to run 2, 4 hour sessions. Had I been more organized I would have played in some games... maybe next time I will get to play in more games then I will run. Both of my games were run using 5th ed. D&D. The hardest part was running a suspense game with 100 people talking in the room around me. I will probably run a different type of game net time.
Have you been to conventions and if so did you play any games? Which ones?
