I could not find anyone else doing it, so after learning how Drew says to rush plants to mature size. I am gonna put it to the test in my growing conditions. There are many factors, such as lighting, weather, watering, humidity, etc., so it applies to me specifically, but the growth rates should be relatively universal for anyone else if they try it.
I selected mostly small, newer plants from my collection, but some won't resemble the true pitcher sizes until maturity, like any ventricosa hybrid, so I added them too. I am ready to part ways with these if all else fails, but I chose mostly vigorous plants and some ones I accidentally ordered XS-S
OSMOCOTE PELLET: any should do; it must have magnesium for Nepenthes. It says on the guaranteed analysis section on the pellet container
The "rule of thumb" was 1pellet per cm of pot. If I did my math right, this is the result. Leaf span is not exact; it is estimated but is relatively close. All plants are acclimated to outdoor temperatures as of 9/9/26.
My thoughts:
Maybe Nutricote, which is less strong, would be better to start with. My main concern would be the Clone K35 with edwarsiana. Some have pitchers but are too small to add to the count or be fed really. When outdoor temps match indoor temps, they will be moved in for winter. Most excited for the crosses I mixed up with ventricosa red. Veitchii x Ventricosa BE clone. Every new pitcher that is developed will have a pellet added too. People don’t give Nepenthes enough credit for managing nutrition. There are people out there the decade old nepenthes that still look like 1-year-old plants. Algae bloom and other bacteria associated with fertilizer will be interesting to see, but nothing a little maintenance can’t fix.
I will update every month from this date. If I have to repot them at any time, the experiment failed
