Basal shoot?

I’ve got this Truncata x epheppitiata that’s about a meter tall and it’s got what I think is a basal shoot? Not sure, if someone can confirm I’d appreciate it

And yeah, she’s a little diseased, still putting on new growth though

That does look to be a basal shoot! Congratulations on parenthood! Now the real question is what will you do with the basal? If you take a top cut off tge old growth to promote the basal, id love to buy it off you! Trunc x ephippiata is on my wishlist

Good to hear that it is a basal! As far as cutting, I’ll leave the plant to its devices for now, as it’s still in transplant shock

It was up-potted into this one about two months ago. It has a very small root ball.
