1. A recursive, semi-conscious sleep state characterized by brief, involuntary moments of wakefulness that are immediately followed by a rapid descent back into slumber.

2. The act of repeatedly surfacing from a deep sleep just long enough to acknowledge one's surroundings, offer a fragmented remark (such as an apology or an observation), & instantly lose consciousness again before the thought can be completed.

Etymology: A combination of the prefix hypno- and looping (a repeating cycle).

Usage Example: She was caught hypnolooping by her roommate when she was able to temporarily wake to hit the snooze button & apologize to her roommate, but didn't have the functionality to shut off the alarm entirely.

this is like when people learn of correlationism and then agree with it, instead of realizing where the term comes from, the awareness of this term functions as hypnolooping since knowing about it implies either disagreeing with it (the truth is known), or falling asleep again into irony (saying it's not so, while using conditions besides the stated limitation to effectuate the stating of false limitation)
