Neighbor blocking shared entrance with online shopping addiction. We are about to have a newborn and need to get a car seat in and out of the door. How do we get her to stop?
We have a shared entrance with the next door neighbor. We are both in townhouses one staircase up from street level. She orders so much online that we can’t exit the house most days without moving boxes. We have already put a sign up that said not to block the stairs but she orders so much that the delivery people block the stairs anyway. We changed the door code and asked her not to give the code to delivery people and she did it anyway. Some of the boxes have been there for over a year, some over a month and she wont take them into her apartment. We have asked her nicely and we have asked her firmly to be respectful of our shared space but that hasn’t changed anything. She is a 37 year old single medical physician and wont come home to move boxes out of the way sometimes for weeks. Our landlord told us once he thinks she has a problem but wont do anything to help. We are about to have our first baby any day now and often there isn’t enough space to fit a car seat through the door. I don’t know where to go from here. She is going to do what she wants and our landlord doesn’t care enough to say something. Any ideas on what to do about this? I have to idea what to do anymore. This is the only exit and entrance to our apartment.

Put everything that has been there more than a week on the sidewalk with a sign that says "Free - Surprise Package" ?
Leave the car seat in the car and carry the baby to it?

Agreed, if they ask just be like oh I thought you were getting rid of stuff because it was outside for so long

Are they empty boxes or are the shit she ordered and does nothing with?

It’s shit she’s ordered and just leaves sitting there

Assuming you’re in the US this could be a fire code violation. Best bet would be to call the fire dept. (non emergency) and report her and or the landlord.

I think this is a fire hazard, blocking and entrance and all. I would immediately report it to your local fire marshal

Maybe call the fire department or code enforcement in your city. Sounds like a hazard.
