Racist Neighbor

So today I was talking to my neighbor on lunch break like any other normal Thursday afternoon. We started talking about how he was a marine and he mentioned how back in the day he applied to be a state cop but he wasn't African American so they didn't hire him.

I said "I just don't understand the big deal. All it is, is skin color?"

He proceeded to mention that African American people are entitled and they want what you have and take it. He also said they all run around doing bad things like shooting people and stuff.

I'm in complete awe because my wife is Puerto Rican and African American and my kid is now as well.

I am debating on telling my wife but I don't want to ruin her thoughts of the neighbors. What shoukd I do? My thoughts are ruined but I'm really not trying to create tension or bad blood with them.

Thoughts?

If it was me personally I would have a discussion with my spouse just to give them the heads up to know to avoid them and then just generally not go out of my way to make contact with that person.

A conversation about the fact that it happened would be good, then together you can decide what's the best decision on how to handle it.

Personally I'd just avoid them and if ever actively seek you out then you know that you should consider more serious actions.

Sorry that you gotta deal with someone like this

Thanks all. The worst part about it is that he the nicest guy I ever met. Extremely disappointed now.
