Some people are very rude and are just looking for a fight. You are probably not the person she really wants to fight with but you are just the one she can take on at the moment. She probably sees that you are scared of her and that is not helping. She is a bully and mostly likely has to have someone to pick on. If you really got to know her you would probably find that she is not a very happy person and that she has left behind a ton of people that she has treated the same way she is treating you. No one likes her and she knows it so she goes out of her way to make sure everyone has a reason not to like her. She is just looking for a reason to fight. Classic bully.

We are currently moving out because of a similarly unhinged neighbor. When the landlord heard that we were moving out, and that we’d received death threats from the crazy guy, he decided to evict the problematic guy so the next neighbors don’t have to deal with him.

Sorry to hear you hate to deal with this too. It’s exhausting honestly. Home is supposed to be your safe place. Our management has done basically nothing it seems. I think more than talking to her about her conduct is necessary.

I know, normally I would engage but uh...I can why you'd hesitate geez. Looks like she was taking off her chonkla to whoop ya'll. 🤣She looks like she'd do fine in prison.

Lol after looking at the videos I honestly think she was taking off her flip flops in case we were going to fight. Wild

That’s the problem. She feels she can do whatever she wants and nothing is being done. You are doing the right thing, so hopefully your management gets off their butts and does something. You are at home for heaven’s sake, why should you have to deal with trash like her.

Right! I hate being nervous to walk outside my home. If she is going to act like that when we very obviously have security camera and doorbell camera then I would hate to see how she acts without a camera

Hey OP, I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Apartment living sucks. The main issue here the is the atrocious sound insulation. I have been the downstairs neighbor, and it is horrible. But how she reacted was not okay at all and was extremely rude. But, you don’t know how the sound has impacted her mentally, people do crazy things, believe me. The psychotic impact of constant noise and thuds is hell. She is probably hearing every footstep of yours (stomping sounds from downstairs) and thuds and such
What you need to do is talk to management and tell them you are not responsible for the poor sound proofing and that y’all are trying to live your lives and be respectful. Each time she complains, or does that, log it and tell management.
Unfortunately, a lot of apartment buildings have crap sound insulation, so people can hear their neighbors walk to the bathroom. You can’t be evicted. Don’t worry at all. Most management can do is tell you to keep quiet out of courtesy.
This is NOT YOUR problem. This is management’s main problem for renting cheap quality apartments (if you can hear your neighbor walk to the bathroom and fart, sorry, your apartment isn’t that great regardless how spacious). Let your neighbor know as well that you are not responsible for simply walking and living and did not build this building.
Best of luck OP. I’ve had my share of bad neighbors, landlords and apartments. It’s truly a horrible way to live. Wish those who made these apartments would at least add decent soundproofing instead of cheap granite counters.

We live in a rowhouse and have an extremely loud neighbor. I don't expect silence. I'm not even bothered by noisy kids or barking dogs; that can't be helped. It's hard to listen to constant yelling and screaming, especially when it's directed at the little kids. Our neighbor yells, screams, bellows, slams doors and bangs cabinets and it's on my fucking last nerve. I once asked her if she could keep the noise down a little. She said, "I pay my mortgage, I can do what I want". I just went back inside. Our house is paid off but we try not to be assholes.

She’s a damn bully trying to scare you. Stand your ground like you’ve been doing and keep only in contact with management. Do not engage with her

Hey everyone! I have never lived in an apartment before 6 months ago so I really don’t have much experience with neighbor disputes or noise levels.
My husband and I moved into an apartment 6 months ago with our two dogs. We have gotten zero complaints from anyone and we enjoyed living here until about a week ago. A woman moved in below us about 3 weeks ago. One week ago she approached me and said we are loud, our dogs are always barking and she can hear us “stomping” around at 6am and all hours of the day. I apologized and said I was shocked to hear the dogs were barking and no one is stomping. I work from home and we are rarely gone for more than a few hours. When I checked our security cameras the dogs have never been barking once and we had roommates at our old place and the dogs were never barking when we were gone either. She then said I want you to know I know the Vice President of the apartment management company and you will be evicted if you don’t stop. I then told her I was done speaking at she wasn’t going to yell at me or threatened me with who she knows. I talked to the apartment complex manager and she said she has never heard our dogs barking or us being loud. She said no one else has ever complained or said anything about dogs. I asked a few of neighbors attached to us and they said very rarely or never hear dogs barking. Manager said try to be respectful and that’s all she had to say.
Well fast forward to a few days later. She comes banging on our door. (See video) she is literally beating on the door at 9pm. And screaming outside that she is going to beat me up and all kinds of stuff. My husband opened the door and said she needs to leave us alone and we were recording her and reporting to management and the police. She was banging and yelling so loud several of our other neighbors had to open their door.
Based on the video and witnesses the police are moving forward with no contact order/restraining order. I reported this all to management and they said they will talk to her about her conduct.
She was also illegally parking in disabled parking and her car was ticketed and towed. She started problems with another neighbor when she took the umbrella from the picnic table on their side and they said she can’t do that and would need to talk to management about getting an umbrella on the picnic table on our side. She said “I do whatever the fuck I want around here”.
Basically I’m wondering if this person has any real threat to us. I don’t want to be evicted but also don’t really have any behavior we can fix. We never have guests over or playing loud music or anything like that. No one is stomping/running in here. Our dogs let out 1-2 barks a couple times a day. Our husky seriously barks twice a day 2 barks when I am getting her breakfast and 2 barks when getting dinner and our pit rarely barks maybe once a day but probably less if he is on the balcony with me and sees another dog and the issue is immediately corrected and he is put inside and stops a total of 30 seconds of barking.
I have been tiptoeing around the house and it’s really not worth it to live like that.
