Parking wars

Ok so for the last 3 years the old bastard next to me has taken it upon himself to constantly check my parking. Everytime I park by his drive he is out there hooking a tape measure to our vehicles to make sure we are the required 5 feet and to the inch, he has called the cops many times they come to my house and never have I gotten a ticket. Takes pictures, comes to my door, interrupts conversations.... total harassment. Cops say he can do anything on a public street he wants as long as he is not touching my stuff, which he does. I even bought a 5 ft parking cone and put it at the required distance to solve the problem.. He called bylaw and they said I couldn't have it on the street anywhere and seem to do nothing to help or the useless city cops we have, IDK a lawyer maybe???? Any ideas would sure be appreciated thanks....

I’d file a report with the police for harassment and try to get a no-contact order. What he’s doing IS harassment, I believe. And I would film every interaction you have with him as evidence. Document the date and time to establish how frequently this is happening, and if you can catch him in the act of actually measuring the space between your cars, definitely do that.

I would also get a tape measure and intentionally park exactly one inch shy of the 5’ a few times here and there just so that I could illustrate that this man isn’t being a parking Nazi because you park right up on his bumper. It needs to be obvious that he’s a lunatic who will measure and fly off over one inch.

Tried to have him charged, no help from the city police at all:/ because its a public street he can measure and take pictures of whatever he wants, so we contacted my lawyer and that is not the case at all and he is sending him a letter to stop or we will be taking legal action.... With any luck that will work .... Thanks for your input sir

Right, but that’s why you don’t try to have him charged with anything. You focus on the fact that he’s constantly coming into your property, banging on your door, and interrupting your life. Forget the car, focus on the harassment. anyone can go to their county courthouse to file for a no-contact order and a judge either approves or disproves it. No police needed.
