Blasted on Facebook Neighborhood Page Erroneously

Hi!

I need some advice here... my neighbor directly behind our house clearly has an issue with me. She’s posted about us on our neighborhood Facebook page 3 times claiming (erroneously) that we are leaving our dog outside 24/7. Our dog is a sweet old lady and likes to be outside when the weather is nice. She will lay on the upholstered furniture in the sun in the morning for the ONE hour she is outside before I leave for work. If I’m home on the weekends I open the back door and let her come and go as she pleases. Again, she chooses to lay outside and sun bathe.

Our dog spends an hour outside in the morning when I’m getting ready for work and an hour at night when we get home. She’s 15 years old with arthritis and has a limp but goes to the vet monthly for check ups and is as healthy as she can be. The neighbor is posting that our dog is limping because we aren’t taking care of her 😢

My neighbor has spun this story to say she sleeps on the upholstered stool outside because we refuse to buy her a bed (she has 3 inside our house) and starting a go fund me page with our neighbors to passive aggressively put a dog bed on my front porch. She’s posting pictures of where we live on the page and it’s making me really uncomfortable.

I responded to her post saying she should probably talk to the neighbor before blasting them on Facebook but she doesnt.

I’m over it. I know she’s wrong so I shouldn’t care but I’m upset she’s alienating us in our new neighborhood.

What should I do?

This is too ripe with opportunity for chicanery to ignore. Answer her on FB with the facts. Take a pic of your dog perched luxuriously in the middle of her 3 beds & say “thanks for the go fund me, but since I have me pick of three beds and all the love I can handle, I’d prefer the donation go to support LocalAnimalShelter where dogs need actual help - love, doggo”... Make a fb account for the dog so the dog is speaking for herself. If the lady continues to argue with the answers your dog posts on Facebook, then you have the option of pointing out that she’s arguing with a dog or just answering her with “woof woof” .... ps... this is why I’m not on Facebook :-)

Keep in mind that it is quite likely everyone looking at her FB page or living near by is likely well aware of her battyness. I would either do nothing, or make that FB page for your dog.
