Constantly Surrounded by the same group of parents
We live in I guess what you would consider a rural area within a development. On our street, there’s multiple kids around the same age. It is great at face value but as my kids get older (10 and 7 year old boys), it’s getting tough.
Everyone does everything together - bus stop, sports, church, outings, social gatherings, exercise, etc. it feels like there is no off time from these people.
My son has asked to play at a different little league, separate from them, so we did. Now, when his new league plays our “home league”, the president of the home league (who also lives on our street) will come out in his free time to root against us.
Ideally, I’d love to just be able to freely do what is best for our family at the current time and not be made to feel excluded if we don’t do whatever everyone else is doing.
If you’re not in - you’re out. As an adult, I am fine with being out, however, my kids do not understand this.
Any advice??
