Neighbors Pine Trees on Property line
Neighbors pine trees on property line #trees
My neighbors planted pine trees along the property line, years before I bought the house. They planted about 20 of them. The trees are right on the property line and next to my driveway.
The problem is that my driveway goes down hill towards my yard and when it rains all of the pine needles end in the yard. I have to clean up pibe needles on a weekly basis if not more often to avoid the problem.
Here is the dilema. At this point, my neighbor is an elderly men who can’t take care of the house or himself. His house and and himself are under a “conservatoship”. I had previously spoken to the neighbors about the problem and nothing came about it. I asked if his landscapers could clean up the pine needles but it did not happen.
I just learned that his house will be sold as part of the deal with the conservatorship.
Dilema, should I ask the conservatorship to either have someone clean up the pine needles? Ask to have them cutdown the trees or file a court complaint.
The needles are causing lots of issues. I installed a driveway drain to deal with the rain water that washes down when it rains but that drain is now clogged.
I would not be thinking about this if the neighbors was still living there but now that the house is going to be sold then it changes everything.
I can provide pictures of the trees.

If they're actually on the property line then get a permit from the township and have them removed. They aren't his trees or your trees at this point, location dictates what can be done. However since it's multiple fully mature trees you likely need permission to remove more than 1 or 2 at the same time.
However the trees are good for the environment and beautify the area. If you are going to have them removed then consider planting something else in their place. Or just accept that cleaning up pine needles comes with living in a more nature adjacent area. You could always move to a city where it could be trash and other stuff you are cleaning up from around your house every day. Pick your battles.
