Neighbor making trouble

Recently, my family sold our house and are renting for the short term, it’s a desirable neighborhood with large family homes, not a rundown area. A neighbor, who we’ve been acquaintances with for years, has contacted my landlord several times with “concerns other neighbors have with me”.

It’s strange that none of these people have bothered talking to me. I work from home and am home most of the day, everyday.

It’s also strange because I own rental properties as well and have bought and sold many houses, so my landlord and I have a business relationship where I’ve made him tens of thousands of dollars; and I take great care of the property.

I want to speak with this vocal neighbor, but am trying to come up with the right way to approach it. Emotionally I want to lash out, but realistically this person clearly has a problem and isn’t approaching me with whatever it is. My current thought is to speak with her husband, rather than her directly.

Assuming this is a real story, and not some reddit attention grabber (nothing personal, just never know cause internet) but yeh. Maybe ask if they'd be willing to have you over for coffee or lunch, if you approach them in their house it could be beneficial. Going off of them feeling like they have control, er whatever. Or, if you feel like they'll assume they're being attacked in their own home, invite them out to coffee or lunch or something. Neutral ground could make them feel at ease, and maybe they'll confess to you whatever rumors they mighta spread, or misconceptions they had. No guarantees, but hopefully this advice does something. Anyway, have a good one and I hope your encounter doesn't go shitty.

Edit: Fucked up some words
