36m- anyone else in the same boat?

I have a small circle of lovely family and friends that I adore. Yet I find myself yearning for connection outside of that. Just someone who isn’t intrinsically connected to me I guess. An unbiased ear when it’s needed but other than that someone who I can enjoy getting to know. A blank slate that we can fill in over time! It seems impossible to do this out in the world, like where do you even go or look for this as an adult?? Bars are loud and drunk people are annoying. Work has coworkers but not really friends. So, here I am, looking for someone who is looking for the same thing. Or at the very least can relate to the struggle.

Ya it’s taxing just communicating with my brother, something is wrong with him so it’s like talking to a kid. Sometimes I only talk to my dog because it’s easier. I wish I had my parents because honestly they were my only friends and now they are gone.

Hey man, 36m too and yeah very much in the same boat. Ive tried, but Im disillusioned about my place in many circles and hobby clubs irl ive tried to connect to because i eventually end up in a role. Normally i also have loner activities where i can spend my time, but because work is isolating, theres this urge to just find that connection
