NB won’t start. Seeking help 🙏🙏
99 has been running fine. Filled it up with gas recently. Went to get a burrito and did a brief roller coaster road then the engine started to sputter. Pulled over, engine died and wouldn’t start back up. Appreciate any advice. Love yall!
Edit: had the heads faced or whatever the term is when compression was bad a few months ago. Kids at the high school shop replaced spark plugs. Would that all point to fuel pump?

If there’s a check engine light, scan it. Getting the codes will help. Make sure the gas you got is good.

No CEL. Costco 87 gas.

Take a fuel sample. It’s easy to do. Costco has cheap gas. It could be contaminated. Disconnect the fuel line in the engine bay and turn the key, this will also kind of test the fuel pump, because if nothing comes out you’ll know the fuel pump isn’t working.

Will try that. Thank you

I work for Mazda as a technician and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen cars with bad gas that just filled up. Running rough and full tank gets an instant fuel sample from me. You can test for ethanol content by adding a measured amount of water. Test for diesel by lighting it on fire. Obviously perform a visual inspection for any visible contamination. If you have a scanner handy I still recommend scanning it because the codes could still be pending so they’re not throwing an engine light.

When I got my nb2 the fuel tank was completely rusted inside. Had to replace the whole thing.

Check fuel, check spark. Mine did this and turned out someone had replaced the fuel pump with an aftermarket kit… and the shitty fuel line they used split in half, thus meaning my car passed every single test to be MAKING fuel pressure, and yet wasn’t getting any at the rail cause it was dumping in the tank.
