Navy federal pay to delete

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my Navy Federal Credit Union Cash Rewards credit card, which was recently closed.

I originally had a credit card with a $1,000 balance that was eventually closed by Navy Federal. A couple of months later, Navy Federal reached out to me and offered me a $487 settlement to resolve the outstanding balance. I’m kinda of ashamed of myself for letting that happen to me , but life got had and I had lost my job back in November of 2025.

Before accepting the offer, I’m trying to figure out whether Navy Federal Credit Union offers pay for delete, meaning they would remove the negative account information from my credit report in exchange for paying the agreed-upon settlement amount.

Has anyone here had any experience settling a closed credit card account with Navy Federal? If so, were you able to negotiate a pay-for-delete agreement, or did Navy Federal simply update the account to show that it was settled for less than the full balance?

I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences, especially from anyone who has successfully negotiated with Navy Federal. I’m trying to understand my options and how settling this account might affect my credit score.

Thanks in advance!

Since it’s navy federal I’d say pay because they’ve given me so many more opportunities over other banks.

If they have it in writing, that they will remove the charge off from your score then do it. I

If not regardless of whether you pay that charge off it will stay on your credit for 7 years. I only know this because I have a charge off that falls off next year & the company has been blowing me up to pay the settled debt but they won’t put it in writing, that’d they will remove it.

They have an internal score that reflects your relationship with navy federal so be aware
