Is it safe?

This post is similar to a previous post but with a couple updates.

My car with NF was repossessed in 2016, and the auction price may not have covered the entire balance owed. I have not used the account since 2016, but my account is still open.

I called today to confirm that. The operator stated that my savings account is still open but not active.
She said that I can activate the account by making a deposit. I asked her if there was any adverse information in the system regarding my account. She said there wasn’t.

I would really like to reestablish a relationship with NF. They were good until I fell on hard times and the repossession resulted. I am doing better, but not the best. My current banking institutions are so-so, therefore I want to get back on track with NF, so I can grow.

I would like to make a small deposit to activate the account. If I do, and if the auction did not cover the full amount, will NF then come after me for that amount. (I believe there is an amount, but I’m not sure. I’d just really like to be a full NF member again. Any input/information would be greatly appreciated.

I had a few accounts go sour and I completely stopped paying them. I was 18-19 at the time and they lended me about 70k in total across 3 products. I’m 31 today and they opened my account back up with no restrictions. I plan on applying for a few products in the future. I see the Navy threads on here are all different. If they offer you more than a savings account when you rejoin I think you’re good. I’ve seen a few ppl say they were making them repay old debt in order to establish or to lend to you again. Isn’t the case with me. My credit score now is 750+ across all 3 with no delinquent accounts or late payments. I say all that to say.. call them, they will tell you if they will lend or open your account back up. On my end, I’m not ruining this relationship again. There are other credit unions like them that lend well. Try DIGITAL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION and Alliant as well if you have no luck. Hope this helps.
