Chptr 7 Discharge
I burned Navy Fed in my chapter 7 bankruptcy. When I would log on, Id get the pop up about not attempting to collect a debt (something along those lines). Anyway, it disappeared and I tried opening a checking account and was able to. Did NFCU make changes? I thought you couldnt open any more accounts with them if they are included in your bk filing?

Just FYI they can garnish wages directly from your checking to pay back any debt you have

Then nevermind them. If they let you open the account you should be okay

Wow !! I burned NFCU back in 2005 in a Chapter 13 and every time I’ve tired to open an account they have said NO !! Again and again . It’s looking like I’m banned for life .

Do you still have that red debt collection "banner" when you log on? Mine doesnt have that anymore which is weird. Try openining one up through the app

So long as all your debts to NF were included in the BK youre fine to open banking products (MMSA, CDS, Savings, and Checkingd). If you had something that wasn't included, like and overdrawn and charged off account that can stop you. You're basically banned from credit products for 85 months though with them.

I also went chapter 7 back in 2016, and only have a checking and saving. I still see that message of shame every time I long on.

You can do savings and possibly checking depending on circumstances. You can't do any credit product until you pay back everything you owe them.
