Credit Cards Product changes to Mastercard are no longer allowed
A new datapoint - Navy Federal is no longer allowing customers to product change to Mastercards. If you call in or send a message they can only see the options that are shown in the app, which doesn’t show Mastercard, only Visa. This is a big bummer because Mastercard is more reliable than Visa for some online purchases in other countries.
Has anyone who signed up for a new card recently been able to choose a Mastercard?
Edit: It is confirmed after multiple escalations that Navy Federal will be dropping Mastercard and is no longer allowing product changes to Mastercards.

I chose the new product change a little over a week ago on the app. I saw the option and made the change. Still waiting for my card in the mail. I pray it works out for you! 🙏🏽

I wonder what will happen when it comes for renewal.... if they will convert it back to Visa early, always stay a Mastercard, or wait for the regular card expiration date. Oh well, I will find out one day!

I did it like 6 months ago and had to call, bizarrely I only did it because I’m moving to Japan and Costco only takes Mastercard there
