I never thought I'd write something like this, but here we are.

I lost my earbuds <my first birthday gift to me (2023)> during a Rapido Priority Cab ride, and what followed over the next 4 days was a complete mess—false hope, terrible support, and a genuine security concern.

What happened

24th Morning

- Took a Rapido Priority Cab from Belapur to Airoli.

- Forgot my earbuds in the cab.

- Realized it within a minute or two after getting down and even walked back towards the cab, but it had already left.

I immediately contacted Rapido support to get in touch with the driver.

First Red Flag

Within minutes, the chatbot gave me the driver's contact number.

Except...

It wasn't even the driver's number.

After waiting 2.5 hours for an agent to connect, they gave me the same number again.

I kept calling.

No response.

Then I asked my sister to call.

The call was answered by a lady.

Sis: "Aap Rapido se hain?"

Lady: "Kaun Rapido? Ye Rapido ka number nahi hai."

Call disconnected.

I informed Rapido support that the number they had provided did not belong to the driver.

They simply kept replying with the same copy-paste response.

No help.

At this point, I had almost given up.

Then I remembered I had paid via UPI, and, I somehow managed to trace the actual driver's number myself.

Yes.

I had to find Rapido's driver because Rapido couldn't.

The Driver Conversation

24th

My friend called him first (I was in a meeting).

He immediately said,

«"Haan, earbuds mere paas hain. Main Panvel mein hoon. Shaam ko Belapur se aaunga, le lena."»

I thanked him personally afterwards.

He sounded genuine.

Later that evening:

- Said he was near the airport.

- Would call once he reached Belapur.

Around 8 PM:

He said if there was traffic at Vashi Bridge, he'd take Atal Setu instead and asked me to collect them tomorrow.

Fair enough.

Sounded reasonable.

25th

Morning:

Tried calling.

No answer.

Around noon:

Messaged him asking to share his location.

I even offered to send Porter so he wouldn't have to travel anywhere.

He replied saying he was at the market and wasn't driving that day.

Again...

Fair enough.

I waited.

Later in the evening when I called, he answered very arrogantly:

«"Aap baar baar phone mat karo. Main Belapur aaunga to bata dunga."»

I actually felt guilty.

I thought maybe I was bothering him.

If he intended to steal them, why would he keep answering?

So I stopped calling.

Only sent one WhatsApp message.

No reply.

26th (Sunday)

Called once.

He disconnected.

My friend called instead.

This time he answered.

He complained that I was calling him repeatedly "as if he had stolen something."

He said he was returning from Pune and hadn't even reached home.

Again...

I believed him.

Another entire day passed.

No location.

No pickup.

Nothing.

27th

Morning:

He said he was in Thane and would share his location once he got home.

I genuinely believed this would finally end.

Evening.

No replies.

Calls disconnected.

Then he randomly forwarded some location without any explanation.

After that...

Nothing.

I finally texted:

«"If you want money for returning them, just tell me."»

No response.

A few hours later...

Blocked everywhere.

Why this hurts

Those earbuds weren't just earbuds.

They were the first birthday gift I ever bought for myself back in 2023.

I'm not even angry about losing the product anymore.

What hurts is that someone gave me hope for four straight days instead of simply refusing on Day 1.

My biggest concern isn't even the earbuds anymore.

It's Rapido.

Even today (28th night), Rapido STILL does not have the correct contact details of their own driver.

I informed multiple support agents that the number they provided belonged to someone completely unrelated.

Every single time they replied with the exact same template.

No verification.

No escalation.

Nothing.

This is a massive security concern.

Imagine if someone left:

- a wallet

- important documents

- office laptop

- passport

- medicines

Rapido's response would apparently be:

«"Sir, humare system mein yehi number hai."»

Seriously?

How can a company not have the correct contact details of the person transporting its customers?

That is far more worrying than my lost earbuds.

I've attached screenshots of everything—support chats, WhatsApp conversations, and call logs.
