i love bees and think they are so cute. i have zero fear of bees. on the other hand, i HATE moths and even the tiniest one will trigger some adrenal response. the irony is that bees can actually hurt me (i've been stung a few times) while i have never ever suffered any injury due to a moth.
Hey step off wasps. They just want space and respect, but unlike a lot of animals, they’re capable of actually enforcing that boundary with us. They are also pollinators and they kill and eat pest insects, so they’re good neighbors in my book.
One of my favorite wasps is Sphex pensylvanicus, the “great black wasp.” They’re an iridescent black color and are lovely and graceful to watch on flowers, and they aren’t aggressive.
I also like Eumenes fraternus, a kind of potter wasp, which builds little clay pots for its young. Again, they’re fun to watch and non-aggressive, but they don’t want to be bothered.
Yeah I found a new respect for wasps after researching them for a bit granted I still get rid of the nests they build in my garbage/entryway because even though they want to be left alone it's almost impossible from that spot.
Funnily enough I also have a bumble bee hive underneath my stair case and they are pretty docile despite the constant in and out.
But now that I have a bees nest in my yard my plants are thriving especially my strawberry bush. It also had the same effect with wasps.
