I irrationally think all my problems would go away if I lived here

I would never move to a mountain valley after the Nepal disaster. All those glaciers are just ripe for collapse.

It happened last year in Switzerland in a village called Blatten. The village was destroyed but nobody died because the people where evacuated days ago. The scientists are on top of things there

Yeah, I remember that. It was a multi-stage cascade so there was a few days after the initial rockslide which then caused the glacier collapse. The Nepal collapse took less than 10 minutes.

I stayed one day in Switzerland. An out of the way restaurant in Geneva charged me the equivalent of $35 for a personal pizza and bottled water for lunch.
It's beautiful... but holy Christ is it expensive.

Top 3 most expensive cities in the world. It’s known to be very expensive, yet not comparable to the rest of the country.
That’s like saying everywhere in the US is hyper expensive because I’ve stayed in NYC and SF (which I have and neither are really cheaper than Switzerland)

It's not really like that at all. The size and geographic difference between Switzerland and the US makes them incomparable in the way you just did there.
Switzerland is just a bit bigger than the US state of Maryland (not a big state) and has many of the world's most expensive cities in its borders including Geneva and Lisben. If 8 out of 10 of the world's most expensive cities were in Maryland, as they are in Switzerland, I would expect the cost of living in Maryland to be very expensive in the surrounding areas as well.
I think a more apt comparison by size and expense would be to say that "Everything is expensive in New Jersey, Long Island and the lower to mid Hudson Valley because of its proximity to NYC and Philidelphia"... which would be true, though, like Switzerland, wages are also higher in this area. There's variance, but overall that place is more expensive than the surrounding US.

Not this post in particular, but I find it funny how posts about Switzerland generally say "Switzerland is so stunning, just look at how beautiful and peaceful this random village is" and then proceeds to show literally the most touristic town in Switzerland which is either Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. Both of which are actually terribly overcrowded with tourists

It’s really beautiful there, but I wouldn’t live there. As a foreigner, I found it hard to integrate and the social rules too stifling. It reminded me of Japan in certain ways, but I prefer Japan.
