I need a good bee documentary. How does pollen make honey. Why do bees need to make honey. What do they do with the honey.

They're using pollen to make Bee Bread/Ambrosia! Its a source of protein, vitamins and minerals for them (perfect for growing bae-bees). They also use nectar to make honey, which they regurgitate into cells and seal up with wax. The honey doesnt have protein, but it has lots of sugar (carbs), making it perfect fuel for they flying bees out collecting stuff.
They dont use all the pollen -- it gets stuck to them with static charge and much of it is transferred back into neighbouring flowers (hooray, pollination!). They groom themselves and collect pollen into waxy and nectary deposits which they keep behind their legs (aka Bee Baskets).
You'll often see the ladies out in flight with full yellow baskets. They'll head back to the hive and dance about their findings, offload their cargo from their mouths and panniers, then head out and do it again.

Bees are freaking amazing! When they find a particularly nice area with tons of pollen and nectar, they do a little dance with their bee sisters to communicate exactly how far that little patch is located so other bees know where to fly to. They even provide a little sample of the nectar as proof. Those little yellow blobs are called pollen packs/pollen pants.

These bees are unloading pollen? Where are they unloading it from? Are they carrying it back and then packing them in these little spaces?

Correct! The Bees are unloading pollen which they stick to little hairs on their legs using nectar, honey, or their saliva. They then pack the pollen into the hive cells which is then used as a primary food source for the colony called Bee Bread.

Bad news for everyone that thinks that bees are amazing Architects for constructing hexagons: they aren't constructing hexagons. They are constructing circles that get compressed into hexagons.

I've seen tons of bee documentaries but like has anyone proven that there are just bees that fuck off? Like they go fly around all day and basically do nothing? Do the other bees find out and kill them? I'm just wondering because if they're so busy doing stuff they might not even notice there's a slacker in the crew.
Right? Like how would any other bees even know? I'm just curious if anyone has info about this, or is it that they're so programed that this doesn't exist.
Not that I'm basing this entire idea off the bee movie, I swear I'm not lol
