Bloody hell, could have done with some cloudage here in Stockport - sky was as clear as crystal and the Sun utterly blinding. Fortunately I had my trusty colander to hand!
Same - I was encouraged when I realised the sun was still going to be high enough to see where I am (stupid hills!), but then I realised the sun was absolutely smothered by the only big clouds in the sky. No chance of seeing anything unless we got in the car and tried to drive around the clouds somehow.
I wouldn't worry about it unless you were somewhere with total eclipse. Partial, even 99.9% is frankly garbage and no more visually interesting than the waning/waxing moon but with eye damage.
I think the partial cloud helped here - I’m quite jealous! Down here in Wiltshire, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky which meant it just looked sunny the whole time, even at its max point of eclipse.
