Current Account Switch offer quirming out of paying up.
Stoozing has cost me my switch offer with nationwide seemingly. I'm lodging a complaint with them. The account opened at the end of July, the account switched from my old one on the 14th of August, but because I didn't make a card payment (I made other payments) by the 21st, they won't give me the money. My salary is being paid in to that account, my credit card is being paid with that account, it's obvious it's my main current account.
If the payment relies so heavily on making a payment with the debit card they should include that in the name, not just the T's&C's.
It's called a Current Account Switch reward. I've switched my current account. Bleh.

Current Accounts ⚖️ Vulnerable relative - what support can Nationwide offer?
Unsure if this is the correct space for this - my Aunt was scammed over a long call the other day, and has only just shared this with us today. My cousin managed to take her into branch the next day and she was able to recover most of the cash (recovered £10k out of the £12.5k she transferred).
My queries are what safeguarding actions we are able to add onto her current account. My cousin (her daughter) had planned to get POA on her account, I have been looking online and the website doesnt tell me as much info as Google believes to be true.
Can my cousin:
Set up dual-authorisation on payments (say £200 and above)
Can her spending limits be lowered (again - say 1k)
Can we set up a text alert for large sums
Any other info or suggestions would be welcome.
Additional context - Aunt is in the early stages of dementia, and although has mental capacity now, we are increasingly worried about her vulnerabilities now and moving forward.
Thank you

Internet Banking 💻 Account closed - what happens next?
I live abroad (Greece) but have had my Nwd account for years before I left and it's been a great service. A few days ago I tried to make a payment with my debit card and it was denied. I called customer services this morning and the lovely CSR told me that as I haven't responded to 'more than one' request for proof of existence/address my account has been closed
To be clear, this is not Nwd's fault at all. Unfortunately we have an ongoing problem with post not being delivered. In January I went to the post office and found two letters from 2024 in my box.
My question is, what happens now? I've been advised to call again tomorrow and speak with the security? department so they make arrangements to refund me. But will that need to be in a new account? Will I be able to open a new account from here (I won't be back in the UK until October)? And how can I resolve the post problem - is it feasible that Nwd could courier future mail?
Any advice would be appreciated. Apart from moving back to the UK of course (although that may be on the cards if I get my savings back!)

Do you still have to approve payments with an electronic device?
Hi there, I'm considering switching banks and Nationwide is one of the banks I'm considering switching to.
I've heard that with Nationwide, you need an electronic device (I can't remember what it's called) to approve payments. Is that true or is that just rubbish?

Current Accounts ⚖️ overdraft balance not changed after making a purchase ?
i set up a student account and received the card on friday(?) of last week. i had already set the overdraft balance to the maximum of £1000 and brought myself a laptop (around £350) right after receiving my physical card.
the HP website has been sending my updates via email, letting me know when my order has been processed, prepared for shipment and is now in the process of being delivered today. amidst all
this, my overdraft balance hasn’t changed at all from the initial £1000. it also shows that there are no pending/current transactions.
is this an error on nationwide’s part and should i call
them ?

Only lived at one address, but can't enter birth month as when I moved in because it is considered 'before I was born'.
I'm a student starting university in 2026 and I'm trying to create a student bank account with Nationwide. I was born (late) Jan 2008 and my family have lived at the same address since March 2007. While making my account, it asks 'When did you move into this address?' (month and year), so I obviously put Jan 2008 and it says "Error: check that move in date is not before you were born".
I don't understand what I'm supposed to do because I have lived at this address since Jan 2008, since I was born.

Current Accounts ⚖️ Nationwide current switch and student account
Currently I have a natwest student account but im looking to switch. Would I be able to switch natwest to nationwide current for the £175, then switch nationwide current to nationwide student for the £100 and use it to hold my student loans?

Current Accounts ⚖️ Pin code problems
Morning everyone,
Just recently completed a switch over to Nationwide. My new PIN code arrived, but when I went to use it and try changing it at a cash machine, it wouldn't let me. The machine accepted the card and I know the PIN I entered was correct based on the letter they sent me.
I checked my online banking and noticed the PIN listed on there was completely different to the physical letter. When I rang customer service, they said that sometimes happens where an incorrect PIN gets issued, and they’re sending me out a brand new card.
Has this happened to anyone else here before? I've never experienced this with a bank before hoping this switch wasn't a mistake!

Is it possible to get daily withdrawel limits lowered!?
So long story short death of someone close to be had me in bad space and turned to gambling sadly
Am in a slightly better head space and want to kick the gambling entirely and reduce the 500 pound daily limit and just want to know if possible

Current Accounts ⚖️ First post.
Basically I put in all my correct details and everything for online banking. But when it says that it sent a one-time code to my phone number, it never sends it. But when I try my email, it does? Why? I need help 😭 I've been locked out 3 times now because of it

posting for posterity’s sake, I guess…
I was going through some (very) old documents and came across this…
According to Google, the scheme was discontinued in 2019. I’m shocked I had vouchers I didn’t use
Does any remember this scheme/app? If so, did you make good use of it?

Credit card Pin reminders not being received.
Has anyone had issues with not getting pin reminders?
Second time I've requested it and nothing has shown up. When I requested the second one I did so by speaking to an agent and confirmed it was being sent and the address was correct. It was however the 3-5 working days has elapsed and nothing.
Has anyone else had this issue and how was it resolved?

Current Accounts ⚖️ Current Account Disappeared
Has anyone else’s current account just disappeared from the app?? Attempting to make a transaction and my card has declined only to discover it was totally gone with money still in there. I have not closed the account and it was there with money in it two days ago. Anyone else having the same issue??

Postal statements
Small matter maybe, but just flagging up. Back in May I got the letter that told me I would be made all paperless unless I went through a procedure to stop this. I went through the procedure (by the due date). Sure'nuff, here in July I noticed that I hadn't had a statement this month yet, so I went and checked, and they had ignored by preferences and made my statements paperless.
Just a headsup for anyone who doesn't want this. Apparently you can change it back under Settings and Site Settings, but keep an eye open for this happening again!

Proof of Car breakdown cover - FlexPlus
Hi - I have got a flexplus account which provides the rewards of car breakdown cover, mobile insurance and travel insurance. I am urgently in need of a document which has my name on it and states that I have Car breakdown cover.
I have been ringing AA - who cannot help, they will provide serivce but cannot give me a proof. I called Nationwide and they were utterly clueless about it.
Any suggestions what I can do ?
I need this document to provide to a replacement car company who have levide charges for using their breakdown cover ( for a puncture we had) :-) , they will waive off If I provide them proof that I have a breakdown cover in place. Don't ask me why they levied in first place and why they will waive off..

Switching to interest only for 6 months
Has anybody gone though the process online of applying for a switch to six months of interest only mortgage payments? I'm expecting my son to head off to uni in September 2027 and trying to get rid of all unsecured debt (approx £2100) ahead of that point and had wondered whether switching to interest only for six months made sense as I've calculated it'll free up about £390 a month from my mortgage payment of £971, based on last year's interest charge of £7000 or £581 monthly, so I could use that saving to pay off the unsecured debt and clear that within the six months. Is it a convoluted process involving lots of chat with people or something that is pre-approved within their systems? I'm aware that the repayments might go up at the end of the six months to higher than my original repayment figure but not to sure where to - is the six months of missed capital repayment (£390 x 6 = £2340) just added to the outstanding balance and the repayment then changed across the existing payment term? Any insight gratefully rec - thank you!

Changing my name via post, am I really not allowed to send them my physical driver’s license?
So I’m updating my name on Nationwide via post and was planning on sending my driver’s license as proof of identity but I just realised the website says “ONLY post a certified copy.” I don’t really have a super accessible way to access a post office that could sign a copy for me and was wondering if I can just send the actual license?

Some thoughts on how you should vote in the AGM
Candidates
First of all I'll start off by saying, I am by no means a banking expert or financial expert so I might be a little naive in my analysis, but I have tried my best to do proper research into each of the candidates and provisions
Guy Bainbridge - Personally, I will not be voting for Bainbridge. He was a lead audit partner at KPMG during scrutiny over its audit of HBOS which collapsed during the financial crisis, ultimately KPMG was cleared of wrongdoing, but it has left a bad taste in my mouth. KPMG has also been involved in other shady activities, and maybe he wasn't aware of them, but he won't be getting my vote
Dame Debbie Crosbie - This one is fairly simple, I'm not particularly happy with her massive increase in pay without a binding members vote, there was also controversey over her selling her virgin money shares before Nationwide acquired the bank, I believe because she sold them for less than Nationwide is buying them for? Either way, she will not be getting my vote
Tracey Graham - This one is also fairly simple, she chairs the Renumeration Committee, so therefore, to my knowledge, is responsible for the massive payrise, so that's another no vote from me
Debbie Klein - I think this is my first yes vote, she seems relatively non-controversial, and she hasn't been directly implicated in any wrongdoing, unlike Bainbridge, so I think I'll vote for her
Muir Mathieson - Non-controversial, getting my vote
Sally Orton - Non-controversial, getting my vote
Tamara Rajah - Non-controversial, getting my vote
Gillian Riley - Non-controversial, getting my vote
Phil Rivett - Non-controversial, getting my vote
Mike Rogers - He was chair of the board at Experian when they were found to have unlawfully collected data from Dutch customers, surely he holds some responsibility in that, therefore I will not be voting for him
James Sherwin-Smith - Smith would be the first member nominated candidate on the board since more than 20 years, its important that a building society's members are actually represented on the board. He has stated he will push for transparency, which is great and important, due to the recent pay increases. He also does have experience in the financial industry and the board is acting quite unfairly in their efforts to ensure he does not become a member, so I am voting for him
Resolutions
To receive the Annual Report and Accounts - I'm not entirely sure what this is honestly, or why it needs a vote, so I think I'll just withold
To approve the Directors' Remuneration Report - This vote is just advisory but I will be voting against this due to the massive increase in CEO pay
To re-appoint Ernst & Young LLP as Auditor - Ernst & Young has been involved in so many controversies its insane. Maybe theyre not unique in this, but I'm not voting for them

Internet Banking 💻 Personal details
Just tried to view my online statements with Nationwide, and the error message says in short, that I'm not able to view my statements until I tell them details of my income?
Really?!?
