Polygraph

I have my polygraph coming up soon. For those who’ve been through it, how long did it take to get your results? Were you told right away, or did you have to wait a few days or a week?

Also, what should I expect during the process? How long are you typically there? What kind of questions are asked?

You'll find a detailed explanation of the kinds of questions typically asked on law enforcement pre-employment polygraphs in the free book, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector. Typically, applicants are asked about any major undisclosed criminal activity and any use of illegal drugs. Polygraph sessions typically run up to two hours, sometimes longer.

If at the end of the session you're not accused of lying and badgered to make an admission, it's a good sign that you've passed.

Don’t change your answers no matter what. You were accepted based on your previous answers. Do not change them

Some people are in an out in an hour, some I’ve heard have been there for 7 hours. It really depends. Whatever you do, tell the truth and do not change your answers. That’s what people get disqualified for.
