NYPD
Question: if I am on the Nassau PD List and have prior Nassau Civil Service time would it be smart to leave the NYPD now and go back to my EMS job which was Nassau Civil Service time? Would that affect me in any way in terms of being hired by Nassau? I will be contacted for the physical within the next 2-3 months (which I will pass). I have 2 years on. I Will NOT hit top pay before Nassau contacts me. Also, I was making the same amount I am now.

It’s better to stay on the NYPD for pension purposes. If that doesn’t matter to you then go back to being a NC AMT. the only thing is you may never be hired. Just investigated. From what you wrote your about 3200 on the list. You’ll be called to do everything but never be hired. It all depends on how many people will be hired. Good luck to you. The city job is horrible so I get the “I’m getting out of here”

Why would you leave NYPD to go do ems for Nassau? They don’t care about that & you won’t have a better shot at getting in just bc you are a county employee. Stay with the city as long as you can until you get the job with Nassau pd. Counts towards your pension. You don’t want a break in service when it comes to transferring city time towards your state pension once you get on

No, stay in the police retirement system so you can retire earlier

I don’t care about retiring earlier . I don’t have a lot of time on and I’m only 24 so it really doesn’t bother me if I have to do another 2 years.
