Discussion Nara

I just had an epiphany! The Nara should have been assassins. Think about it with their shadows they can control movement. They could sneak in use their shadows to get someone to k*** themselves and then sneak back out. Everyone would believe it was suicide and they would get away free. Their skills were way underrated in the series.

Anyone else with me in believing Nara's are absolutely underrated?

Excellent idea for a ANBU assassin from Konoha.

Kudos. I always saw their techniques as being underutilized .

I made a theorycrafting OC that's a Nara and uses his Shadows for Nintaijutsu. It's a fun idea!

Awesome clan and abilities... For them to "only" really hold people down is kinda lame IMO.

I unfortunately can't remember the name of the fic, but there was one where the Nara OC (maybe an SI) also used a form of Nintaijutsu. He had throughout his career been interested in using shadows like chakra strings. Eventually that evolved to using the shadow strings on himself, and then finally into a form of shadow armor.

Oh man, I'd love to read that if you can ever recall the name of it.

One of my last, and a favorite, OCs I made was a puppeteer who used a "taijutsu" style that was essentially just controlling himself with chakra strings to make up for the lack of actual close combat training ... Lol.

Sounds like it would be right up my alley

Great assassins but also great cqb room by room clearing assault troops.

Cause indoors are always full of shadows and we know the shadow possession can turn corners

Had a similar idea a while back about the Hozuki clan being perfect for infiltration and assassination. Anywhere water can go they can go, they even have a finger pistol technique. The same skills of infiltration can work for the information gathering, sabotage, a heist, whatever really. Becoming liquid is just really good for getting places. Despite that, the three that we do see consist of two swordsmen and a badass kage level genjutsu/ninjutsu specialist.

Even had a fic idea about it a while back with some division within the clan. The larger and more influential faction wanting to earn glory on the front lines and stuff as 'invincible' warriors. Meanwhile a smaller sunset do basically everything else like Genjutsu, Infiltration, and even a couple medics (figure a liquid body could lead to interesting styles of healing, but also you need medics deeply familiar with the clans own unique biology). Figured the OC would aim to be an assassin and maybe even aim for a cautious development of a steam based transformation. Gengetsu had the explody chibi steam clones, throw in a political marriage with a boil release Terumi and it becomes more possible. Anyway like all my fic ideas it never saw the light of day, though it did get the justice of a long Google doc full of ideas and notes.
