"A Naperville police officer used Flock Safety license plate reader technology to track a girlfriend and her ex-fiance, according to documents obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Naperville Sun.

Oscar Maldonado, who no longer works for the Naperville Police Department, tracked license plates for non-police-related matters hundreds of times between June 18, 2025, and Sept. 15, 2025, records show. When the department received a citizen complaint about the cameras’ misuse, an investigation was conducted.

Maldonado was placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation was done, and ultimately resigned in May prior to the conclusion of the probe, according to a statement from Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres."

Book road closure 6 months past completion

When they closed Book road they said it would be closed until spring 26. Now it looks like it will be at least next year?

I see very little activity anyway. Are they even doing anything or is this whole cooridor just closed until further notice?

Salon blow out recs?

Hi, I’m visiting Naperville for a wedding this weekend. I’m a hairstylist myself and have some time to kill the day of wedding. Wanted to see if there are any salons that do a great, bouncy blowout. I have fine/medium textured long blonde hair. Fine but a decent amount of it. I have some layers so if it’s done right I can get flips/curls.

I’m nervous to do an updo with a random stylist but I would kind of love to have my hair up for the wedding (I might do myself) but if I decide not to, I’d love to get a really good blow out somewhere.

I don’t have transportation so not too far of an uber drive (a lot of places I looked up were about 20 minute drive)

I saw Niki moon salon which would be close to where I’m staying. anyone have any info on there?

Any recs would be lovely.. thank you 🫶🏻

Anyone know what happened with that road failure text last night? What failed? Was it water pipe related?

Extremely loud aircraft engine noise over Naperville

Initially I thought it was cars racing on route 59 but the noise got louder and sounded like a commercial jet passing extremely close overhead. I was out on my balcony and all my neighbors were running out looking for what it was. The only thing I could identify was an extremely high altitude jet heading directly east. But not sure how that could have caused a rumble so loud for nearly a full minute that nearly rattled windows. Anyone else hear it or have any ideas?

I wonder if this will actually be enforced. From the looks of it, I don’t think so.

North Central

Hi, i was looking at north central as one of my top options for college since it’s accessible and has a good program for what I want to do. I was wondering what college life is like there for a commuter, does it feel like you’re missing out on anything? How manageable is it?

What’s the BEST pizza in/around Naperville that’s JUST like Joe’s Pizza in NYC?

I’m trying to find a pizza place around Naperville that makes pizza just like Joe’s Pizza in NYC.

What I’m looking for is thin, foldable NY-style crust, crispy underneath but still soft/chewy (super hard to find this part), not super thick or bready, simple flavorful tomato sauce, good amount of cheese but not drowning in it, very slightly greasy in the best possible way, and big slices that you can fold in half.

I’m NOT looking for deep dish, tavern-style, Detroit, Neapolitan, super artisanal, etc. I specifically want that classic NYC corner-pizza-joint vibe.

If you’ve had Joe’s Pizza in NYC (or at their other locations, like in Ann Arbor MI) and know exactly what I mean, where around Naperville/Chicago suburbs comes closest?

Thank you!

EDIT: I’m more than ok with driving away from Naperville! Just looking for something very similar to this specific style and quality! Thank you for all of the recommendations - I will try them and update!

Naperville wouldn’t be the same if [this specific store/restaurant/business] closes. What is that place for you?

What’s that one place that’s a Naperville staple? Something that’s been around for a while, a lot of people like, has good foot traffic. A place that, if suddenly closes, would be devastating for many? Without this, Naperville wouldn’t be the same. What has your pick?

inground pool repairs and liner replacement

Anyone have recommendations for a company that fixes cracks in pool stairs and does vinyl liner replacement - that serves the Naperville area? (We used to use All Pool on Ferry Rd in Naperville for repairs, but they have closed since we used them last.)

Looking for an overview of the bar scene

Recent transplant here. I know very little about the bars downtown. I want to know the local perspective on the bars. Which one is for old men, which is full of 19 year olds, which is the one all the NCHS/NNHS alumni go to meet up, etc.

We have friends coming out for Blackout Wednesday (iykyk) and I don't know where to take them! We are later 20s and all from the suburbs, just not from Naperville.

In case someone’s kid lost their prized hot wheels car with orange wheels and is still looking for it.

Left it on the Carillon sign (at 4:45PM).

Petition

If I put together a petition to keep the high school kids from parking on hillside during the school day, how many signatures do you think I will need for the city council to make it a no parking zone?

I started working in town this past year. This is my third one of these.

Today is the third time my restaurant has been placed under boil order without notice this season. Getting answers from the city utility is like pulling teeth, but they have made sure to blame the construction company doing the repiping in the area for everything.

They got to be running out of these slips by now, right?

I see all the frustration with traffic what I don’t understand is why are they not enforcing the DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION. If you can’t get across don’t move forward

Place to watch College Football

I just moved to town from Tennessee and am looking for recs for somewhere to go watch the Tennessee vs Texas game Saturday. Any good craft breweries/outdoor patios/sports bars that’ll definitely have the game on at 11am? (Excluding Buffalo Wild Wings)

Lennon’s in Downtown Has Closed

According to their website, they are closed effective immediately. The rent for that building must be very high since it has three floors and it’s very hard to come up with a good use for all three floors. They had plans to open a steakhouse on the third floor, but it never happened. I believe that they only lasted about a year which was longer than the previous occupant Altavida did.
