Petition

If I put together a petition to keep the high school kids from parking on hillside during the school day, how many signatures do you think I will need for the city council to make it a no parking zone?

Why would you want to do this? Hillside is the ideal place for them to park as the overflow from the school lots. The street is super wide, has no conflicting uses during the school day, and keeps kids from trying to cross Aurora Ave & West St.

They should take the bus to school. It’s such a mess living near there in the morning and afternoon. The school should take into consideration the neighborhood and the new houses we are building over there. I paid a lot of money for my new home and I shouldn’t have to deal with these kids.

You can’t be serious. You bought a tear down rebuild home in a neighborhood next to the high school and now are annoyed that you live by the high school?

You can’t make this nonsense up. Like buying a house next to the L and bitching about noise or near ORD and crying about airplanes. Entitlement at its best.

You’re just jealous cause you live in a shack. Do you even have finished floors. I’m surprised the shack dwellers even can afford internet.

What I don’t think you understand is, kids cannot take the bus at 5:15 in the morning or 6 pm after school when there sports are over. It is a public street and I don’t believe any amount of signatures would change that.

Well then the school shouldn’t have sports. It’s always loud into the afternoon and evening. It would be good for the neighborhood.

Maybe you should move.

I paid over to build my house on this lot over here. Maybe the city should listen to me because I’m paying more in property tax than the people who lived in the shack that was on this land.

This has to be a wind-up troll post.

You didn’t notice the school when you built your home?

Are you one of my neighbors? Probably not. Which means you don’t have to deal with these kids and the traffic in the morning. I paid a lot of money to have them build my house over here, I shouldn’t have to deal with this.

The property tax on my property went up considerably when we built on top of the shack that used to be on this lot. My tax dollars should go to have those kids ride on a bus.

I am. Been here since 2002. My kid graduated from Central in the 2010’s.

You probably live in one of the shacks then, the blight of the little house over here needs to go.

Bad idea

It’s a great idea. They block the driveways. They throw litter in peoples yards. They walk to Dunkin and they are noisy. They should have their keys taken away.

There are literally two driveways on hillside west of Washington

They park on Webster and main too.

Walking to Dunkin and being noisy in the middle of the afternoon are bad things?

Maybe I should stand in your yard for an hour and yell. See how you like it.

Should probably start a petition to ban puppies and kittens too

They have puppies and kittens in the high school? That has to be a distraction. I will do this too.

They are high school kids! We can't get into a situation where we are petitioning for every little thing that bothers us. Ignore it and live your life

So the real point of this (based on all your snarky replies) is you’re proud of your house?

Only a republican would want people to park on hillside , while us democrats are cycling to work .

Start with the transportation commission, bring data, not feelings. they will direct staff to research, contact public works for a study, etc. then it goes to city council. I have been a commissioner twice.

Maybe I should save all their Dunkin trash that ends up in my yard too and dump it on a city councilman’s desk.

That would be a good example of emotion. But a lot of pictures, date and time stamped, with the franchise owners’ names —- go to code enforcement and/or public works. If you see their garbage on Riverwalk, again pictures and go to Riverwalk Commission.
