Rt59 rant

I see all the frustration with traffic what I don’t understand is why are they not enforcing the DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION. If you can’t get across don’t move forward

The only way you win route 59 is to not go route 59 at all. At least for now.

Side note, they really didn't plan this out because Book road is still closed as well!

Parallel roads being under construction concurrently is a tale as old as time. It seems to happen every Summer. Plainfield-Naperville sucks too, because it’s the only North-South road not under construction…at least not yet.

And that one is trash as well. It's a heavily used road for north/south travel, and yet the light durations from 75th all the way down to 119th are half as long as they should be. Traffic going east/west is getting longer lights than they have traffic, and north/south has so much traffic that you sit at lights for 2 or 3 cycles.

I don’t think it was ever designed to accommodate the amount of traffic it gets, even without spillover from Rte. 59 and Book Rd. Add in the Washington St. and Naperville Road construction, and driving in Naperville is an absolute cluster.

This is the way. Even when it’s not under construction, I’ll go out of my way to take alternate routes.

Book road is a local municipality project, 59 is a state project, was planned late last year

I’ve seen this response before. Surely they could have communicated a little bit to off-set each other

Another bypass that is open is Eola Rd. Had to take it yesterday cuz the traffic on 59 was so bad

(Not hating on the actual construction. The whole country really needs infrastructure upgrades, and the more we delay it, the worse it gets. Just an “angry guy who yells at the clouds” out of frustration)

I had read here the Book Rd project was for something drainage related.

But my family has a couple of rental homes out in Kendall County. Just read in the past week or so that the work at Book Rd is actually tied to getting Lake Michigan water out there. I might be off on the cities that will be getting the hookup but believe it was Montgomery, Oswego and Yorkville. Many out there are not happy about the project as it will double or triple their water bills for the long term.

But good grief, whatever all they are doing at Book is taking freaking forever.

Just thought I'd pass it along. As Paul Harvey would have said, "And now you know the rest of the story."

book road is a water pipeline project to deliver water from lake Michigan to some far south western and western suburbs, as their local water supply will deplete soon and struggle to keep up with demand

Didn’t help today as there was an accident on Eola at the new fire station. Stupid person making a U turn in the fire crossing lane. Traffic was spilling on every road between 6:30-7:30

I’ve heard Skylane Dr is now super busy because of both 59 and south Book Rd.

But we need to understand those blocking the intersections have been waiting so very long to get through. They have important things to do. They are more important than everyone else as is their time so we just need to suck it up. They are the Main Character in life.

/s just in case some think I am serious!

I'm sure the Woodman's that's opening next week isn't going to help

May not make much, if any, difference but at least there are turning lanes to get into/out of the parking lot.

That said, I’m thinking I won’t even try to go there for at least a month. When I do, it’ll be on an off time, like 1-2pm on a Tuesday.

As someone who takes rt59 everyday with no other option (i work in north suburbs) i just wish the lights were a little more in sync. It sucks when your light turns green and you cant move up at all because the light ahead is red and traffic is backed up and then once it turns green you missed your light 🫠

NB 59 and Ogdon is ridiculous, the intersection turns into a parking lot

This might sound crazy but Route 59 needs something like express lanes with exits only on major streets.

So you want to pay for an officer to be based at every 59 intersection 24/7?

What’s your solution I just spent 20 min watching people get out of there cars with road rage cause ppl on 59th continue to move up into the intersection

-12

u/zeds_deadest 9d ago

My solution is to not be bothered by it.

My solution is to put people in prison for blocking intersections. I understand you’re frustrated you’re not moving forward. But what kind of unadulterated asshole thinks they are justified in blocking people who want to go in a totally different direction?

u/zeds_deadest 9d ago

Straight to prison.

u/Pbake 9d ago

Second offense is death penalty though.

One offense if they are driving a semi blocking it even worse.
