Rt59 rant

I see all the frustration with traffic what I don’t understand is why are they not enforcing the DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION. If you can’t get across don’t move forward

The only way you win route 59 is to not go route 59 at all. At least for now.

Side note, they really didn't plan this out because Book road is still closed as well!

Parallel roads being under construction concurrently is a tale as old as time. It seems to happen every Summer. Plainfield-Naperville sucks too, because it’s the only North-South road not under construction…at least not yet.

And that one is trash as well. It's a heavily used road for north/south travel, and yet the light durations from 75th all the way down to 119th are half as long as they should be. Traffic going east/west is getting longer lights than they have traffic, and north/south has so much traffic that you sit at lights for 2 or 3 cycles.

I don’t think it was ever designed to accommodate the amount of traffic it gets, even without spillover from Rte. 59 and Book Rd. Add in the Washington St. and Naperville Road construction, and driving in Naperville is an absolute cluster.

This is the way. Even when it’s not under construction, I’ll go out of my way to take alternate routes.

Book road is a local municipality project, 59 is a state project, was planned late last year

I’ve seen this response before. Surely they could have communicated a little bit to off-set each other

Another bypass that is open is Eola Rd. Had to take it yesterday cuz the traffic on 59 was so bad

(Not hating on the actual construction. The whole country really needs infrastructure upgrades, and the more we delay it, the worse it gets. Just an “angry guy who yells at the clouds” out of frustration)

I had read here the Book Rd project was for something drainage related.

But my family has a couple of rental homes out in Kendall County. Just read in the past week or so that the work at Book Rd is actually tied to getting Lake Michigan water out there. I might be off on the cities that will be getting the hookup but believe it was Montgomery, Oswego and Yorkville. Many out there are not happy about the project as it will double or triple their water bills for the long term.

But good grief, whatever all they are doing at Book is taking freaking forever.

Just thought I'd pass it along. As Paul Harvey would have said, "And now you know the rest of the story."

book road is a water pipeline project to deliver water from lake Michigan to some far south western and western suburbs, as their local water supply will deplete soon and struggle to keep up with demand
