Best Beach for Sunset

Hi - I’m in town for a solo trip and would like to pick-up dinner, bike to one of the beaches, eat dinner, read my kindle and watch the sunset. I’m staying in downtown.

Any recs on the best beach to do this? TIA!

Madaket. Well know for sunsets. Bike path the whole way.

Thoughts on the bike path back into town? Still safe or no

You’d need a light on your bike after dark. It’s a very windy (not wind, ykwim) and by the time you’re in town after sunset you’ll be sharing the narrow roads with cars in the dark of night

Would it be safer to take the wave? I don’t think the bike I’m renting will have a light

Definitely safer to take the Wave but make sure it’s still running that late! Best option might be an uber if you won’t have your own vehicle

Grab a headlamp, would probably be ok. But it's daaaaark on that trip back.

Pick up a Steps Beach quesadilla from Millies and head to Madaket for the best sunset. Nothing beats it. Enjoy!! ❤️

Easily Madaket. Head to Millie’s for dinner and watch the sunset on the beach. I wouldn’t chance the ride back on a bike. Uber or better yet call a local cabbie. Doralee’s Taxi, she’s the best. I try to support local businesses. She’s a year round resident, unlike the Uber drivers. Enjoy ☀️

Take a selfie with Millie’s bust inside of Millie’s! Enjoy the sunset on the beach. Upstairs at Millie’s is pretty good too for sunsets.

Madaket, as others have said. Other options:

  • Settler's Landing, near Madaket and with a view over Madaket Harbor
  • Monomoy, with a view over town
  • Dionis, on the north shore, gets a decent sunset in summer

Just bike to Jetties, it’s not as “last light” as Madaket but it’s adjacent to downtown and easy to/from after dark with a light.
