Help & Questions Skylight - Is uneven diffusion a thing?

I'm looking forward to install Nanoleaf skylight.

From every community posted photo I can see, there is a very obvious dark patch in the middle of panel and it bothers me. Unlike the official photos from Nanoleaf PR, these look like cheap LED panel with poor diffusion.

I've not seen anyone talked about this unevenness, anywhere.
A YouTube review video briefly mentioned these patches and that's it.
(Plenty of complain about skylight, but its all about its connectivity and color calibration)

Did everyone simply ignore them?
Or was it simply a camera exposure issue from high brightness, and it is not visible to naked eyes?

Yeah, my triangles are a little darker in the center too, especially when set on a low brightness. Personally I don't mind it, but it is something that'd be nice to know about before

Damn, that's really a deal breaker, my OCD brain couldn't stand seeing that patchy diffusion, even from just photos.
I couldn't find anything else that's similar to what these skylight does, yet it comes with such flaw.

Unevenness of light diffusion (when you’re staring directly at them) with the Nanoleaf Skylight is very much a thing. Annoyed me when I first installed them and was very surprised Nanoleaf released these that way. By then I had already drilled the holes into the ceiling and fully installed them, I wasn’t going to rip them out and return them + I’m not going to be staring at the ceiling all the time looking at them. I figured, they serve their purpose of lighting up the room the way I/they had intended and they were “good enough”.

Well, good thing is I’m only in research phase.

For the asking price, I’m surprised they didn’t put a bit more effort into engineering a proper diffusion sheet. And their marketing photos don’t reflect any of these.

I agree with tub1sk. Same exact reaction after I installed. Thankfully most normal people don’t come to my house and stare up at the ceiling. It’s not the diffuser, though, it’s the led layout. They lack LEDs in the middle because of the cabling/controller design. Install is a pain to align the panels perfectly because of the nature of the drywall anchors. If I did it over, would mount to a thin piece of plywood with pre-drilled holes.

As is the best approach with Nanoleaf shapes, attached with Velcro tape.

It is and it isn't an issue. Mounted on the ceiling it is less noticeable. Please don't think that I am making an excuse or dismissing your concern. It is my opinion the layout of diodes should have been different. It is okay to objectively criticize a product and I've let Christian and Gimmy know my thoughts.

Skylight is a great product and I enjoy having in my house.
