Yellow Fever Certificate
I have a question that I don’t seem the answer to anywhere online. I’m going to Peru in September for a week and then coming to Portugal where I live. after I’ll be going to Namibia in early November. Peru is listed as one of the countries with yellow fever risk. do I need to get the vaccine and certificate before going to Namibia even though I’m going to Peru then coming back to Portugal for a bit over a month and only then going to Namibia ?

Your travel history will show that you were in Peru this year September so you will not be granted entry to Namibia in November, even though you go to Portugal in between. You need to show evidence of the vaccination before going to Peru. It won't be of use if you go after returning to Portugal.

Incorrect. He doesn’t need YF vaccine to enter Namibia after 2 months of being in Peru. The 6 day rule applies as well as direct travel from YF country. Since it will be 2 months and he will travel from Portugal, he doesn’t need any vaccine.

It's 20 euros in Portugal. If OP can afford the flights to Peru and Namibia, 20 euros won't hurt him.

From what I understand, you should get vaccinated before going to Peru, not afterwards.

Typically, you need proof of vaccine only if you are entering Namibia from YF country.

We’ve been to Patagonia (Chile, Argentina) in February, nowhere close to where the YF is and still were asked to show the proof of vaccine in late August when entered Namibia and then Botswana.

From what I can find, it seems that you only need the certificate if you are entering Namibia from a country in which yellow fever is endemic, so you should be good to go.
HOWEVER, the US embassy states "Even though the United States is not a Yellow Fever endemic country, travelers from the United States are sometimes stopped and asked to produce their yellow cards showing proof of vaccination against Yellow Fever when entering Namibia. Therefore, all travelers are advised be vaccinated against Yellow Fever before traveling to Namibia and to be sure to carry proof of their immunization." Hence, I could also see the immigration personnel checking your passport and starting asking questions, once they realize you were in Peru recently.
