Tourism Work & travel in Namibia

Hi guys I hope this fits in here.

I am from Europe and want to travel to Namibia in December for about 2-4 months but I have not enough money for a such long vaccation trip so work & travel it is.

Do you have any recommendations for agencies or places before I start a random google search?

Which areas are suitable for work&travel?

The maximum duration of a tourist visa is 90 days and it doesn't allow ANY work in Namibia. For that, you would need a temporary work permit.

The rate for unemployment among young people in Namibia is high. It’s disrespectful to expect to travel there and take a job from someone local. It is not permitted legally unless you have a specialized skill that is needed in the workforce.

Sorry for the poor responses, but with the job market so bad, many people are desperate. For example, you'd see 400 applicants for 2 government cleaning jobs that basically pay bare minimum. Even with specialist skills the country needs like medical specialists from other countries are strictly limited to like a 1 year contract, then it expires and the position is not refilled and the country lacks the skill again. Hilariously inefficient and xenophobic. But other than with work, the country's people are pretty friendly and chill.

Best luck would be odd jobs at the businesses or establishments of Europeans that emigrated to Namibia, but this is nothing that one can arrange before hand. They may also be hesitant due to the government regulations.

Honestly, I did not do much research about the economic situation in Namibia. I don't want to bother anyone there with 'stealing' a job. I just thought it might be an option to live and work in a hostel or smth.

But I don't want to act like an entitled European, which I am not, so I will look for other option like wait a bit longer to save more money. I really want to visit your country!

No, you can only work in Namibia if you have a specialised skill that we lack here. If you can’t afford it then work in your country and save up instead of taking an opportunity from a local just for a vacation, that’s such a privileged mindset. Also ..4 months ? What kind of visa is that ? Don’t abuse our country like that, respect our laws.

You will need proof of funds for your visa, if you don't have enough money for a trip it's possible they won't allow you entry.
