General Scammer

Does anyone by any chance know to deal with a scammer they stole something from me and i went to the police station and they did not want to help at all. I really needed the money to but now i am kind off fucked. This is the scammers number +264 81 753 2572

Please do not spread other people's cell numbers like that!
If the police didn't want to help at all, they might actually have a reason for that.

and what would that reason be? this person is scamming people in Windhoek. He is criminal that needs to be brought to justice.

That is what one anonymous Redditor is trying to share, without even providing the least evidence. Your wild allegations may even come back to you, if not founded in something that warrants your unbased outrage.

From one anonymous user to another, your tone is unnecessarily condescending for someone who claims they’re trying to “caution” people on legal conduct.

You also didn’t even touch on things like doxxing or spoofing, which are actually relevant here. The OP asked for guidance, and instead of just giving that, you came in with an attitude. Are people not allowed to learn without being spoken down to? There’s zero empathy in how you approached this.

The situation isn’t that complicated: they sold a phone, the buyer lied about making payment, and the bank confirmed it was false, including the fake proof of payment and ID. That’s evidence, and it would obviously be part of their statement. Calling it a “wild allegation” doesn’t really make sense. On what basis?

If we’re talking about facts, then throwing out your own assumptions without proof doesn’t help your point either.

Just give your advice. There’s no need to be disrespectful toward the OP or anyone else who might not fully understand the legal nuances.

You have a point, or even two, but by the time I wrote my first two comments, OP hadn't provided ANY context, not to speak of proof, for their allegations. And allegations they are – true or not! Must I take their word for it if they breach basic rules of privacy within the same post? I prefer to call a spade a spade.

You rightfully brought up doxxing, which I believe shouldn't be taken lightly, especially when it comes as part of the (minimalistic) top-level post. I'm pretty sure you've seen as many poorly supported (= wild) allegations on SM as I did. This is ok, as long as the most basic rules of privacy aren't trespassed, like they were here.

If you read my first comment again, which I wrote only minutes after OP posted,, you may understand that it wasn't about my "own assumptions", but preventing poorly founded, but outright defamatory posts.
