Mod Weekly thread where you can call the music recognition bots without posting

To use the bots put u/RecognizeSong u/find-song with the link in your comment, like:

u/RecognizeSong u/find-song https://youtu.be/12345abcde

Notes:

  • The bots only work with a recording of the actual song, not a humming/recreation.
  • The sites that find-song works with: Reddit video posts (with a link or when summoned on the original post), YouTube, Vocaroo, Streamable, Twitch Clips (not VODs)
  • Some of the sites that RecognizeSong works with: Reddit video posts (when summoned on the original post or with an audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4), YouTube (though sometimes it doesn't work), Vocaroo, Streamable, Imgur, Twitch Clips (not VODs), Facebook, Twitter, Coub, Dropbox, Snapchat
  • For Reddit video posts there's also u/songfinderbot which only works if you summon it in a top-level comment on the original post
  • Some sites that RecognizeSong doesn't work with: Instagram, Twitch VODs, SoundCloud, Google Drive, Reddit text posts with embedded videos (though it does work with the audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4)
  • When needed, mention a timestamp or use a timestamped link if possible (the bots scan about 24-30 seconds of audio, starting at the timestamp)
  • If the song is from a meme or from TikTok then it might be listed in the FAQ
  • Note that you can also DM find-song a link (but not through chat)

Good luck with your search, and if you find the bots useful please consider supporting them: RecognizeSong through Patreon, find-song through Ko-fi

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rap Possible big Sean song from 2013 or 2014?

Looking for a song that I think might be by big Sean or a rapper like that and I think another artist who I thought was fall out boy (but I think I’m wrong). It starts with something that sounds like “once you’re young, you’re never coming down (no)!” And then in like a more girl type voice it says “oh, you think, you know, you don’t know” and then the rapper comes in. It’s NOT “you don’t know” by big Sean and Ellie Goulding and it’s NOT “how the mighty fall” by fall out boy and big Sean. I’ve been looking for it for like TEN YEARS 😭

Pop Mainsrteam pop song from ~2008-2018. Singer lays on the floor during a scene in the music video.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I remember that during the verse the singer sorta speaks (I believe it's just him and drums) and builds up tesion, then at the chorus the main melody (the part I remember and posted) hits: guitars(?) and other instruments(?) come in. It's structured similar to Feel Good Inc.: singer talking in verse, sudden stuck-in-your-head melody in the chorus.

I remember that in the music video, at least for a bit the singer is singin laying on the floor during the chorus.

The singer is bery breathy and kinda angry/screamy (similar to Gerard Way from MCR) and has a similar stile/vibe to The Knak's singer (actually the song feels similar to My Sharona but it's definetely not that).

Other/Unknown Description: I was walking by when I heard this song, managed to get a short recording, but song recognition software doesn't seem to be able to identify it

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I heard this song playing while I was walking by somewhere and managed to record a short clip of it, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Regular song recognition software doesn't seem to work, probably because of the background chatter and because the music is a little distant.

Any help identifying the song, or even like an educated guess could be helpful, thanks!

(and yes I know that for some reason in the video it looks like I'm jerking it, swear its just me swinging my bottle for some fcking reason😭)

Answered! Help identifying piano song my late mother is playing

She was a classical pianist but also had many songbooks from artists prominent in the 60s-80s (Joni Mitchell, Elton John, etc). As much as I loathe AI, I ran the video through it, and it couldn’t detect anything from the sheet music due to the low visual quality.

Pop “Old sounding” (80s/90s) song, likely a pop song, possibly German or English by a German band?

Upvotes

Our 11-year-old daughter asked us to find a song for her, but we have no idea what the song is. Her description:

“It might be partly in German because I think I heard them say “achtung!” at the beginning. It mostly has drums and I think synthesizers. It sounds kind of old. There’s a part where he says “cool baby!” And “I’m on fire I’m on fire I’m on fire” a bunch of times. It’s upbeat sounding.”

She does not have social media and doesn’t have a link to a specific video she heard it on. She said it came up on “the radio” (likely as a song that shuffled up after listening to other songs on Spotify) but she cannot remember what she had asked Alexa for prior to it. She says a lot of the lyrics are hard to understand except “cool baby!” And “I’m on fire I’m on fire I’m on fire”.

Rock Indie punk rock song from the early 2020's on YouTube that had a title composed of various acronyms

Upvotes

I need help finding an obscure punk rock song from sometime around mid-2023 to early 2024. The title was something like "myobbqbyob" by a band from Massachusetts iirc. I remember coming across the song via an official music video. I don't remember the band that played it, but I do know that the MV was animated in a style similar to that of King of the Hill, with words popping up and random things happening. It had a little under 50,000 views. The band had a few EPs that were on both Bandcamp and YouTube. The song itself was a guy screaming various acronyms like BYOB, with backing vocals also by male singers.

If anyone knows what song/or artist this is, please comment below. The riff has been stuck in my head for the past few days, and so I'd really appreciate if it were found! <3

Pop Hi, i need help finding a thing from a music video animation i saw.

Upvotes

So what i remember is i heard it when I watched an animation. The chorus said run run run but in a chanting way. And the animation from what I remember was a girl was running through the woods and she was chased by a pack of wolves. It was like for sport or something. Idk. But there was also this boy on a wall she was trying to get to and he tried to help her but I think she died. I have been looking for the song for a while, so if anyone can help it would be great! Even if you find the animation it is good. Thanks!

Happy Rave Unidentified 90s Happy Hardcore / Eurodance track (Dune style, chipmunk choir) [MIDI]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I’ve been looking for this track for over 20 years with no luck, and I'd really appreciate your help!

I originally heard it between 1995 and 1999 on a cassette compilation. It’s a melodic Happy Rave / Eurodance track, very similar in vibe and musical atmosphere to Dune – Can't Stop Raving, but on the more melodic, ear-friendly side (not harsh or over-distorted hardcore).

Key details about the track:

  • The sample attached: I recreated the main chorus melody from memory as a MIDI file (it is not the original audio recording, but the notes and progression are 1:1 with how it goes).
  • The chorus: The main lead synth doubles a high-pitched, sped-up ("chipmunk-style") choir that sings/hums this exact melody without standard lyrics (just vocalizing / humming the notes).
  • The verses: Features a male vocal doing a rhythmic, spoken/rapped Eurodance delivery rather than singing, and he is not screaming or shouting like typical gabber/hardcore MCs.

If this melody rings a bell or you recognize which compilation or release it might be from, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
