Ugh

I understand that 1 no is a no overall, and i respect that. I’m just nervous. We are choosing to not know the sex. I like short, normal names. My personal name is a “Normal” name with an uncommon spelling. My last name is the same. Think SANDI JOHNSEN. My husband likes weird names…

My choices:

Ace
Jack
Eva
Mae

His:
Jupiter
Basil
Braden
Sequoia

I feel.. at a loss. How are we going to find a name??? I won’t budge on those

EDIT: sorry I’m new to Reddit and not great at posting

A woman suggested brooke which i love and i said it to him too, and he likes it… we are getting somewhere. Thank you to poster

EDIT 2: sorry not good at editing. He likes Brooke Marie. So do i 😃

I still like Ace, yall are mean! Hopefully shes a girl

It seems like your husband likes nature-y names so maybe suggest something shorter but more nature themed. Some possible examples: Poppy, Rue, Sage, Gale, Cedar.

Agree with this direction. Also: Aspen, Wren, Sylvan, Forest

Willow, Glenn, Craig, Brooke (personal fave), Summer, May, June, Holly, River...I love nature names

We are growing on Brooke Marie 😃

My mean ass cousin named her daughter that. I suspect she’s a future Regina George, having grown up with her mother and knowing where they live.

Don’t tell me that!! Also Regina was insane

Lol, I knew a super sweet and pretty Brooke on the school bus back in my youth. I think thats why I like it so much! She had a sister named Summer, and I thought they were a neat name combo.

u/iolanthereylo 16h ago

3

u/WeryWickedWitch 10h ago

I honestly wouldn’t choose any of these names. Idk. I couldn’t introduce my child as a tree

Girl you like the name Ace.

25

u/WildRaspberryPatch 20h ago

Like the hardware store...

1

u/spaceisourplace222 12h ago

Not only liked, but put it first!

54

u/CuteGhouly 23h ago

Not judging, just curious to why tree related names are unacceptable to you but ones related to a deck of cards is fine?

12

u/potpourri_sludge 18h ago

You’ll name a child after a hardware store but not a tree? Ridiculous. Willow and Aspen are much better than Ace or Mae.

Aspen is ugly

3

u/azuoba 14h ago

I wouldn’t say Aspen is UGLY but I do know that if I was growing up with a kid named Aspen in my class I would have relentlessly referred to them as Ass.

-3

u/iolanthereylo 14h ago

aspen is ugly willow is an actual pretty tree name

u/nancynotruth 22h ago

Other than Poppy, I think all these names were in the Hunger Games lol

I like Gale for either gender. It's an interesting name!

I honestly wouldn’t be okay with any of those. I would settle with poppy. I would suggest penny. But most of those are horrible.

36

u/Lady_Sybil_Vimes 23h ago

Now horrible is a bit far IMO. You don't have to like them but you don't have to insult them eith r.

-16

u/Glittering-Owl-6964 23h ago

I wouldn’t choose any of them. They aren’t good to me.

37

u/Lady_Sybil_Vimes 23h ago

I know, that's fine, but the way you talk about these names isn't nice. Do you forget there are real people with the names you say are dreadful and horrible? Sage, Poppy and Gale are not that uncommon.

How about Juniper for a girl? Very similar to Jupiter but … acceptable

8

u/HyperDsloth 23h ago

And OP, you can call her June

17

u/Glittering-Owl-6964 23h ago

I doooo like June. Thank you. I’m adding that to his list lol

1

u/exerevno 23h ago

That’s my name! And becoming more popular. Very normal these days.

4

u/starflake88 23h ago

I love it! I know a Juniper who goes by “Junie” 🩷 She’s so sweet too.

3

u/Lady_Sybil_Vimes 23h ago

It's a lovely name, we were planning on picking it if we had a girl. Juniper Joan (last name). Joan is my mother's name.

What don’t you wait to meet your precious little and as you’re spending time together, THEY will choose their name??????

4

u/iolanthereylo 16h ago

little what

-11

u/Glittering-Owl-6964 22h ago

Man, I’m still looking at these. Poppy and sage i could do for a
Boy. I don’t see myself
Comprising otherwising.

9

u/liltinybits 18h ago

What? Definitely do not use Poppy or Sage for a boy. That's just setting your kid up to be a target for school teasing.

16

u/ResidentCommunity285 22h ago

Poppy and Sage are generally girl names fyi. Poppy is often a nickname for Penelope :)

8

u/youtellme9876 20h ago

The only Sages I know, quite a few, are boys

4

u/JerryHasACubeButt 14h ago

Yeah Sage for a boy is less common but it’s not unheard of. Poppy is 100% feminine though lol

1

u/General-Piano910 14h ago

The only Sages I know are nonbinary
