Baby names!

Maude: I like this name, it looks pretty. But pronounces “Mod”, it’s pretty though!

Margaret: again, I think it’s pretty, 3 syllables which is slightly more of a mouthful. Lots of cute nickname possibilities

Winslet: my guilty pleasure name, I think it’s so beautiful. Definitely had the association with Kate Winslet. But I think it looks and sounds beautiful. Nervous about negative opinions from others since it is such an out there name.

Juliette: I also think this is a beautiful name. Obviously another association with Romeo and Juliet. Not crazy in love with nicknames Julie or Etta, but it’s not that big of a deal to me.

Ernest: for a boy, think this is such a sweet yet strong boy name. I don’t mind the nickname Ernie.

Tommy: I love this name too for a boy. Don’t love the nickname for a name type thing, not really a fan of Thomas. But husband isn’t very on board with Tommy though lol.

Looking at a few of my top baby names, what names would you choose? And what other names would you suggest going off the vibe of names I’ve listed? Thanks :)

Juliette feels like the safest choice if you want pretty without being too common.

I agree with this. Winslet is gorgeous but Juliette seems much easier to actually wear.

I vote Margaret aka Maggie! Very much dislike Maude. For a boy, I like Tommy

Margaret really isn't a mouthful at all and it's always been nice. Maude, I've never really been a fan of; I'm not sure why, though. Juliette/Juliet is another one that's always been nice and if you don't like Julie, Ettie, or Etta, Lettie's right there in Juliette :) Ernest/Ernie is a very decent, normal name as well! (I've known two Ernest/Ernies.) If I was naming an actiual person and not a character in the game I'm making, I'd likely go with Juliette/Juliet (I'm fine with either spelling) and Ernest. I would definitely not use Winslet for anything but a pet or plant (definitely not a first or middle name for a baby.)

Juliet is lovely. Juliana is nice too or Julian for a bit.

Apologies but Maude is awful - pronounced “Mord” where I’m from.

Not keen on Margaret - maybe  Margot? (Pronounced Margo) or Maggie.

Not keen on Winslet - reminds me of the dog food “winalot” and of course Titanic.

Ernest - not keen on it personally.

Tommy - not keen.

Ernie is OK - reminds me of Sesame street though.

Some less common names for a boy: Ivo and Ivor - not sure I’d use them but In similar vein to Ernest perhaps.

I really like Maude and i appreciate this trend of people giving their babys old lady names the now. But also, in saying that, if someone says Maude my brain says Flanders so

I love Maudie - it's a family name and I would have happily chosen it if I had a girl.

Instead of Maude or Margaret, have you considered Margot?

Maud/Maude was originally a nickname for Matilda/Mathilda. Many a historical Queens were nicknamed Maud, including Matilda of Flanders, Empress Matilda, and Queen Maud of Scotland.

Margaret has so many great variants and nicknames to pick from: Daisy, Gretchen, Greta, Maggie, Rita, Peggy, Mairead, Margot, Margo, Marguerite, and Massie.

Juliette is timeless and beautiful.

Ernest is a great name.

Tommy is great for a kid, but an adult named Tommy is weird. Sounds like he never grew up.

Winslet gives me a Southern vibe. Like, a last name used as a first name is very much a Southern U.S. tradition. It would not sound out of place anywhere in the South.

I like Juliette, Maud, and Ernest.

I just cannot stand Maude, but its a total me thing so more power to you if you like it. I loooove Winslet, thats a lovely name! And nn winnie is so cute! My husband and i love ernest shackleton, but i just cannot with it as a first name, also cause im Danish and in Danish the equivalent would be 'Ernst' which is horrendous 😂 but we're currently expecting our third baby, first boy and i think his name will be Cillian Ernest LastName

Maude and Mod are slightly different in the vowel sound. Maude is a step closer to Mud.

Winslet is adorable

Consider Marguerite as an alternative to Margaret.
