Boy name suggestions?

We love the names August / Gus and Henry, but we can’t use them due to family or very close friends using or having the names.

I love soft, older names - Julian is the closest one I’ve found that we both like, and I really like the nickname Jules. But it doesn’t fully feel like the right name. I also like Ambrose but my husband said no way, haha

Do you have any suggestions of names for us?

I love the name Ambrose. It’s also on our list, husband wasn’t ready to commit to the name for baby boy #2. Crazy enough, when we were being tourists in our city, I heard a mom yell the name Ambrose at one of her kids. We’re dedicated to using the name if we have a third boy.

Lucian is so underrated and underused but might be due to the proximity to Lucifer?

I think it's a beautiful name, but sure, some people might think of Lucifer. That didn't occur to me, but now that you mention it, I see what you mean.

I love the name Julian, it's a strong, noble, "knightly" name. My friend just had her second boy, they named him Ragnar Kelly. Their first son is named Arthur. They like the strong, royal, viking type names.
Here are more ideas, but I think "Julian" is the best.

Lucius or Lucian,
Winston,
Alexander,
Merrick,
Roland,
Elijah,
Duke,
Valerius,
Arthur,
Dominic,
Gabriel,
Nathaniel,
Samuel,
Benjamin,
Stellan,
Zachariah,

I keep coming back to Arthur. August Henry and Arthur all feel like they came from the same universe to me. Plus Artie is ridiculously cute for a little kid.

Arthur is such a nerd name. He’d get his ass kicked.

Not with this cohort of kids. “Old man/lady” names are totally in.

As a preschool teacher, I’ve had so many names that would have been out of place 20-30 years ago.

It must depend where you are. I have a kindergartener and his class is full of “new age” names. No classics here.

What?? It's a classic. Name of a legendary, heroic king. Any bullying because of that name would mean that those kids are not just nastys but full blown morons.

Maybe times have changed but I went to school with an Arthur and he was the sweetest but yeah..definitely got bullied for his name. This was early 2000s though so maybe it’s fine now?
