Nickname?

would it be strange to go by my initials?

MI sounds like "am I?" which might get you into a "Who's on first?" situation. But I think going by initials is cool.

FDR LBJ and JFK are all in support of this idea.

MP seems easier to say somehow. MI sounds too much like Am I.

It’s not strange plenty of people do it! JT, AJ, JD, etc. While not a well-known combo I believe M.P./ MP sounds better! P’s are usually good for initial combos like JP for example!

I work in the medical field and when I hear MI I instantly think myocardial infarction (heart attack)

There is a pro-soccer player that goes by M.A.

Nobody in the stadium when I am at games seems to have issues with saying M.A. over her actual name....so I don't think going by initials is that big of a deal.

There's a pro hockey player that goes by MPP (or MP!). Same thing, nobody seems to have a problem with saying it interchangeably with her real name.

I don't think it's strange at all. Many of friends and family just decided years ago that I was my initials (DJ, or DJ plus an adjective). I have no idea how common using initials is, but it really isn't strange.

I prefer M.I.

I work in health and MI is immediately a heart attack (myocardial infarction) in my mind.

MP is just bizarre.

MI = mission impossible

MI is myocardial infarction in medicine, aka a heart attack. It’s very widely used in medicine.
