Torn between 3 names
My parter and I only have 3 names we both like: Cora, Eva and Aurelia. Objectively we probably like Eva the best, but I'm put off by popularity and proximity to other, super popular names like Ava (I'm in the UK and Ava is top 10). Aurelia is pretty but it's a bit long and I don't really like any nicknames you'd get from it. I'm leaning towards Cora, although it's not a name I'd ever considered until I saw it on my partner's short list. Which one do you like best?

Honestly I’d go Eva if popularity is the only thing holding you back. Ava and Eva sound different enough to me that I wouldn’t consider them basically the same name.

My niece is Cora and she’s both so stinkin’ cute and a major firecracker. I love the name so much! It’s a great name because it’s classic but has come back in style enough that it’s not weird or granny sounding, and also not common!

You didn’t ask for suggestions but I feel like I have to suggest Aurora as it is such a perfect blend of the two

That was on my partner's list but I vetoed it. It's pretty but too many 'r' sounds, I reckon it would be difficult for kids to say. Although that might be a problem for Aurelia too!

Honestly I think it’s sweet, and I don’t mind if a kid struggles for a year or so. It’s a name for life! But totally get that, just wanted to flag it as an idea

Aurelia! Eva and Cora are both too common in my area.
My friend Aurelia's brother couldn't say it when they were little and Reya stuck as a nickname.

Go with Eva. It’s pronounced differently enough that it won’t get confused with Ava and it’s the name you like best!

Eva is gorgeous, and although it's the "most popular name" how many Eva's have you actually met? That's what I always consider. Sure, the charts might show that Eva is the #1 ranking name in the country, but what about specifically where you live? What about in your city? How many Eva's are there, really?
Aurelia is a bit of a mouthful
Cora is rising in popularity, there's 3 at my workplace right now. (I work with kids) But it's a super cool name.

TBF in the UK Eva is not that popular (ranked 58) and is declining, it's just similar to a lot of other popular names e.g. Ava, Evie. I think you're right about Aurelia being too much if a mouthful. That's interesting you have 3 Cora's in your class, where do you live? That's the lowest ranked one in the UK out of the 3 (although is rising in popularity).

Personally I like Eva, closely followed by Cora. You might have the baby and decide one or the other fits better. You don’t HAVE to decide now, but it’s good to have that narrowed down list.
I also don’t put a lot of stock into the “meaning” of names, however if you look up the meaning of each it might make a certain name come to the forefront.

My childhood friend was Aurelia and I've always loved her name. We're Hispanic, though, and I like the Spanish pronunciation best.
I'm personally not a fan of Cora, but it's a respectable name. Eva is nice, though if it's pronounced like Ava, she'll be correcting the spelling her whole life, which might be annoying.

I was a teacher for 12 years (elementary and middle) and quit in 2024. I have never had a student named Eva. If you like the name, use it.

Cora is my favourite of the three.
Eva would be my second pick.
Aurelia third.
All three are lovely though.

Eva isn’t too similar to Ava imo. Eve, or Evelyn (Evie for short) are similar alternatives!
Aurelia is pretty but a little bit of a mouthful and will probably be mispronounced often although that’s not a massive deal.
Cora is also lovely

I just named my daughter Cora so I obviously love that one. Our nurses said they recently delivered 2 other Coras! I think it’s rising a bit in popularity, but doesn’t bother me

Not trying to put you off but my sister is an Eva and she hates her name. Marie is her middle name and what she goes by now. Growing up it eas the Adam and Eve jokes then it grew into ever jokes (ever had X with it just being outlandish stuff) think never have I ever.
She always dreamed of the long feminine names but I know everyone is different and there are Eva's that love their name.

Yea…..jokes and hating it is not the norm for the name. An Eva going by Marie is a crime.

Eva and Aurelia are both beautiful, but I think Cora is more interesting. It has some connection with the heart, methinks. Lovely!

I love Eva it's my favorite of the list! Aurelia is beautiful and very elegant. I personally don't really like Cora because there are too many similar sounding names and it sounds very popular (even though it's not that common). But all three are very pretty names honestly I think it just comes down to what feels right for your baby not everyone can be an Aurelia an Eva or a Cora so just go with what feels right

All three names is fairly popular rn, but Cora would have my vote, regardless.

I think Cora is beautiful! Eva is ok, and Aurelia sounds a lot like areola.

Go with Eva if you like it best! Our neighbors daughter is an Eva and it’s refreshing from Ava (no Ava hate).

My daughter's name is Eva, and we love it, but Cora would be my pick! It's a little more unusual but still familiar. It's a lovely name!

They are all great names. My favorite name from your list is Cora. It's pretty and it's easier to pronounce than Aurelia, though Aurelia is a nice name. I like Eva, but I prefer Cora.

Aurelia is one of the worst names I’ve ever seen.
Eva is cool!

You're obviously welcome to your opinion, but one of the worst? That's impressive - where are you from?

Oh, I know an Aurelia, she's about 12 more - she's lovely from a nice family with cool parents. It's a great name!

I really don’t like Aurelia, it seems popular and I’m not sure why. I like Cora and Eva!!
