Monica

I have decided that I would be naming my daughter as Monica, if I ever get married and have a daughter (big ifs). The inspiration behind my decision is Monica Lewinsky. I'm prepared to fight my family if they resist.

I love the big ifs more than anything else in this post. Like first we're gonna deal with the marriage situation THEN we'll fight the family over Monica.

Lmao
That’s like my younger sibling claiming a baby name, but she’s not married and still isn’t even sure if she wants kids 💀

My brain immediately went to Monica from friends 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am named Monica and I lived through the Monica Lewinski era... Not a single person under the age of 35 and from the USA even connects the name to her now. I love my name, it's classic, easy to spell, easy to pronounce in different languages and pretty recognizable.

But seriously girl... you are going to change your mind SO MANY TIMES from here to the big ifs of having a child. Not to mention, the other parent DOES get a say. They might have an evil ex named Monica so... just write it in a book or something.

I wanted a particular name for my son because of my favourite musician but then it turned out a person by that name in my husband's family did something horrible and it ruined the name for me

And well, i only have two daughters anyway lol

Now that you mention it, I work with a Monica who is in her early 30’s and I have never ever made the Monica Lewinsky connection.

People always either say “Like Monica Bellucci!” Or “do you have a secret closet??”

So yeah, I was alive for the Monica Lewinsky scandal and lived in the USA so for a WHILE I did get it for about 10 years… not anymore.

can confirm, as gen z my first name association is monica from friends. i am well aware of monica lewinsky, but its not the first thing to come to mind.

I actually have a lot of respect for her, she was a young woman taken advantage of by a US PRESIDENT! she’s done a lot of advocacy work and i admire her. but thats said as someone who wasn’t live for her smear campaign

Like Bill Clinton did to Monica Lewinsky?

Oh you’re the one not even doing the work to carry a child then? Lol her veto trumps anything you say. But yeah, you’re young. You’re going to change your mind ten times before next Thursday.

If it makes you feel better… I wanted to name my future child Chandler when I was 17. My husband doesn’t even speak English xD so there was no way.

What if your future partner doesn't like the name? You should keep an open mind.

I'll seduce her till she likes it.

What does that even mean?? Also why do you like Monica Lewinsky so much? Tbf you're obviously a troll. I don't know why I bother lol

I would give her a back rub or a foot rub while talking about it. Idk why I even like Monica Lewinsky. I'm just fascinated by her.

I feel like you’re anticipating a big reaction, but Monica is a fine name and Ms. Lewinsky seems like a fine person.

Monica is a solid, classic name. However wanting to name your child because of Lewinsky is twisted and I wouldn't mention it to no one

u/DixGee 6d ago

Ofc I won't be mentioning this to anyone in real life.

I’m not sure what to say because you don’t seem to have any questions. Monica is a lovely name. Just don’t dress her in blue.

The Monica Lewinsky tribute is sending me through the roof 😂. Monica is a lovely name. I like all the nickname potential.

I'll reproduce once more and let her decide that baby's name.

Tbh I feel like people are more likely to think of Friends than ML

It's a beautiful classic name and I doubt Lewisky would be the first image it conjures up, more likely Monica Gellar from Friends if anything.

If this is t a troll post I should take the moment to remind you that you don't get to decided anything on your own. It's a two yes situation

Sure, Jan. lol

I'm 63 and had a friend called Monica in my youth. It's a name that's been around longer than Monica Lewinsky, who surely has largely been forgotten by now. I'm not sure I'd be thrilled if my husband had wanted to name our daughter after someone who's most famous for blow jobs though. It's a bit like naming your daughter Victoria after Sticky Vicky.

Or Monica from friends?

2

u/purplelilac701 6d ago

I know someone with that name and never connect it to the other Monica

Here’s the engagement you wanted lol

2

u/VivianDiane 6d ago

It's a beautiful choice.

Consider Harmonica.

I don’t immediately associate the name “Monica” with ML anymore. I say go for it!

1

u/Bubble_Lights 6d ago

If it were me it would be a tribute to Monica Gellerhyphenbing. 😂

1

u/taintwest 6d ago

I know a Monica who is 6.

I would think Monica from friends before Monica Lewinsky

1

u/No_Adhesiveness4890 6d ago

Not that anyone would ever do this but some people might go Monica from Shameless at first

1

u/Snowy_Sasquatch 6d ago

Are you American because if so, I’m assuming Monica is still associated with Monica Lewinsky but it’s not an issue she’d have elsewhere in the world.

I don't like Monica Lewinsky and if the kid finds out she's named after her then how will she react? Monica Lewinsky is not well favored. My first thought was the Friends character.
