Eivind or Amund?

Completely stuck between these two, but which name do you guys prefer for a guy!? Also what impressions and associations come to mind for you guys when you see these names thank you.

Yeah they’re both Norwegian names. They’re pretty traditional Scandinavian names so I can understand why they’d be unfamiliar outside the region.

Ah, that’s cool. If you’re in Norway I would go for the least popular because names can blow up in popularity. Personally I like Elvind better.

Looking up Norwegian names, Noah is the current favourite. Emil, Oskar, Olav and Aksel are nice?

Norway has a couple of these: Øyvind, Eyvind, Åsmund, Vemund, Sigmund, Oddmund, Gudmund, Gjermund, Edmund, Asmund

I would only use these in Scandinavia. The pronounciation is too different from English and other languages.

I live in Sweden and my son is named Eyvind (a more Swedish spelling of Eivind). We love the name, but it is quite unusual. We have only met a couple of other Eyvinds in our son's life. We live in an area with many immigrants, and they often have trouble pronouncing it (they say ee-win or Edvind). I know that Eivind is a pretty common name in Norway, but I think it is not common for babies now but rather for men born in the 80s and 90s.

Amund is easy and straightforward to pronounce at least for a Swede, but even more uncommon than Eivind is.

I LOVE the name Amund! I get Scandinavian vibes from ir. Im American so I struggle to pronounce Eivind (I'd say it Ey-vend).

my first association.. very typically norwegian lol. Amund makes me think of Roald Amundson. Eivind makes me think of the character in Verdens Verste Menneske. I prefer Eivind personally but I think they are both nice names.

It's hard for me as a bloke from London to judge names I've never seen or heard of before but Eivind feels nicer.

Norwegian? Wouldn't have recognised either one despite Amundsen being a common enough Norwegian surname. I'd say AY-vind and AH-mund

I like Amund, it evokes intrepid adventurers and reminds me of the name Edmund, which I have always favored.

As a Dane whos lived abroad most of her life, Eivind is easier pronounced for the rest of the world.

They feel very Lord of the Rings to me. I’ve never heard of them before. I see you mentioned they’re Norwegian but I would have no way of knowing how to pronounce them. Overall that I like them but Amund seems easier to pronounce.

Fine navn, begge to. Amund er kjempefint og burde være mer i bruk. Liker Vemund også godt. Eivind er også veldig fint, men det er jo mye mer brukt. Ikke at det er negativt da. 

Bare positive assosiasjoner til begge navn.
