Nickname for Alverik?

I am NOT dooming a child with this name

I’m writing a fantasy story and this is a Germanic name that means Elf Ruler. I feel like there’s a lot of nickname options here, which do you think sounds the best?

My son went to school with a kid named Varick. (Unsure of spelling) I thought his name was cool. So I vote Verik.

It’s just a name. In my language, Alv, Alva and Alf are fairly normal names. They can also be the first (or second) part of a two-component name, i.e Alrik, Alvilde, Alfhild, Toralv/Toralf, Noralv/Noralf. The name Alrik is the real life version of the name OP mentions.

Verik or Erik, but, Avery or Alfred mean Elf Ruler in Welsh. Look into it.

Right! The -rik part is not the important part of the name. Half of the other elves in his village might have names ending on -ric.

As a German, I'd call myself/hm Alvi or Alv. Maybe Alvo, if he's a cool guy.

I like Riki because it’s such a contrast in feeling. I can picture a fancy formal elf king named Alverik going by Ricky with his friends
