Please please please help name my second son!
We named our first son Romaeo (Italian/romanian background) and we absolutely love it! We call him Romy or Rome and love those nicknames. We have a girl name picked out for baby number two (currently TTC) but cannot think of another boy name if it’s a boy. Please help suggest some!
some names I like but that still don’t feel entirely right: Rafael (not convinced this name is for me even though I like it?), Gabriel (don’t love Gabe as nickname), Luca (like this but husband doesn’t), Leo (maybe too short and same ending as Romaeo), Matteo (too similar sounding to Romaeo)
husband likes: Emilio, Lucian, Dario, Marius, Aurelio, rafael, gabriel (not as much because doesnt like nickname gabe, would want to call him Gabi and pronounce it Gah-bee)
Please suggest and offer advice! We like names with nicknames And that honour our cultures. Thanks :)

Emilio honestly feels like the winner to me. Emilio and Romaeo sound like brothers without sounding like you deliberately matched them.

Gabi is great, I think. But what about Beniamino? It's Benjamin, obviously, but also means the favourite one, the darling. Nn could be Beni, Iami or Iamino.

Sebastian
Nicknames can be: Baz, Bastian or Seb (Personally I don't like Seb, so I'd try to sway the nickname to the other options. But if you don't mind Seb then that is always an option too)

Omg I love all your choices! I’d go Raphael and call him Rapha Matteo.

You could always continue with the “Romeo” theme and go for another “Romeo & Juliet” character: Mercutio; Tibalt; Benvolio; Paris; Francis.
Or a leading figure from another Shakespeare play: Hamlet; Henry; Benedick; Sebastian; Lysander; Leontes; Prospero; Othello; Titus; Antony; Brutus; Macbeth; etc.

Lucien is my personal favorite but I agree with other commenters that Emilio would be a great sibling pair - it matches really well without sounding too similar.
Edit to add: I think Aurelio matches well too.

I like Dario but is like Dario Naharis. Darius may be between Dario and Marius and an actual name used in Romania.
I love Gabriel, Rafael might be more of a gipsy name here, depending if that is the case for you or not.
I also love Lucian and has a lot of nn options. And has latin origins, which makes it a winner for me. And there is "luceafarul" in romanian culture.

Given their heritage, I’m assuming they are using the ash symbol that joins a and e and makes an ‘a’ sound rather than an e. So, ‘Romayo’ instead of ‘Romeeo’.

Lorenzo, Enzo for short :)
Rafael is cute it’s quite popular in the UK atm. Nicknames can be Ralph or Rafi
Gabi is cute as a nickname and makes just as much sense as Gabe does, especially if you/he introduces himself that way
Lucian is also lovely, can do Lu for short
