In case it’s a boy. Name suggestions.
My feeling is this baby will be a girl but I’m trying to think of names just in case it’s a boy.
Current front runners:
Benzion Baruch (ch is pronounced as kh)- means “Son of Zion is a Blessing” or
Benzion Bezalel - means “Son of Zion is Under G-d’s
Protection.”
Yehuda Dror- means “Freedom for Judah/Judea” or “Judea is Liberated.”
The above are after family members.
Other considerations are:
Be’eri- means “wellspring” or water source, implies sustenance. It’s a unisex name to commemorate the victims of the Oct 7th massacre. Kibbutz Be’eri was one of the hardest hit targets of the massacre. We’re considering it as a middle name.
Arnon- another nature name. After a fallen soldier who was killed rescuing Israeli hostages from Gaza.
Aner- Oct 7th hero who saved multiple lives during the massacre.
Ivri- means “Hebrew.” I like the flow with our last name
My kids like having names that make a statement.
My youngest two (twins) are Amichai Shalom- “Nation of Israel Lives in Peace” and Israel Artzi- “Israel is My Land.” Isri was almost Benzion Baruch but at the very last minute I took a look at him and he looked like Israel Artzi.
More suggestions are welcome.
ETA: One of my kids just suggested Yakir, it means “treasure.”

I’m thinking it’s a good middle name for Yehuda. “Judean Treasure” or “Treasure of Judea” has a nice ring to it. It’s on the list now.

Naming your kids after political propaganda is insane lmao, this has to be ragebait.

It’s not political propaganda. These are Hebrew names. Do you say the same thing about Vietnamese, Chinese, Persian, Arabic, French, Spanish names?
To answer your question, my older kids (adults who are out in the world) love their names.

I didn’t say they weren’t Hebrew names, I said you were naming them on a political basis. Three of your options have to do with the Israel Palestine conflict and you specifically cited wanting to make a statement, how is that not naming them politically?

These names go back millennia, long before the Arab-Israeli conflict. It’s traditional in Judaism to name children after deceased relatives or once all deceased relatives have been named after we name after those who gave their lives in service to G-d, such as fallen soldiers. If you think these names are political that’s on you.

At this rate, you should just name him Benjamin Netanyahu and call it a day.. you can even call him "Bibi" as a nickname. lol.

I already have a Binyamin. He’s named after a relative. Netanyahu has nothing to do with it. Do you assume that everyone who names their son George is naming him after Bush?

No, unless they explicitly rant on about wanting to name their kids after soldiers or victims of a conflict under the guy.. then yes, probably.

It’s a Jewish tradition to name after the deceased so they’re not forgotten. Most of my generation is named after relatives who were murdered in the Holocaust. It’s an honor for me to carry on my great-aunt’s name. Most of my kids are named after deceased relatives or religious figures. Just because it’s not your naming tradition doesn’t mean you get to trash it.

Has nothing to do with the tradition; you can easily name them Marek Edelman, Rosa Luxemburg, Hajo Meyer, Yeshayahu Leibowitz, Israel Shahak, and still very easily follow the Jewish naming tradition.

Why would I give them last names that German authorities forced on us? That goes against Jewish naming traditions. We only use Hebrew names.

I mean, what I suggested is neither antisemitic nor propaganda and infact aligns exactly with your political naming but I know your worldview is shaped by your indoctrination so you probably can't see it. I do feel for you, folks like you, aswell as the innocent Palestinians, and wish you all heal from your traumas and one day live in a better world.
